Do my 2008 malibu lt 2.4 has a fuel filter.

The fuel pump is 8 or 9 years old now, and that's about the average life span of those pumps. Just by turning the key to on should cause the fuel pump to turn on for 2 seconds. This is to prime the fuel lines and the engine with gas, so it will be easy to start. Do you hear the pump buzz on for that 2 seconds when key is turned to on, not start? If you don't hear it, then probably a failed pump, but of course you can't rule out the possibility it is a fault in the pump circuit. That is why mechanics will test the pump or at least the wiring to the pump before condemning the pump and having to remove the old one. Yours should be fairly easy to access through an access panel in the trunk, or under the rear seat. You get access to the top of the fuel tank, where you can remove the pump module assembly. And that is what you replace, is the module assembly.
The filter would be found underneath the car. Just follow the fuel lines from the tank towards the engine. One is the feed line, the other is the return line from the engine to the tank. The fuel filter will be in the feed line, the pressure line from the pump in the tank to the fuel rail on the engine. The filter is on this line.

1977 jeep cj7 will not start very well and when it does it turns over a little and then shuts down any answers ?? the fuel pump seems to be ok.

If I remember correctly that Jeep had a mechanical fuel pump attached to the engine. I suggest you disconnect the fuel line before the fuel filter and put a pressure gauge on the line. Crank the engine for at least 15 seconds and go see if you have at least 7 lbs of pressure. If not, you need a new pump. It that was good, now disconnect the line AFTER the fuel filter and see if you have a sufficient volume of fuel coming out. For that I suggest you have someone else crank the engine while you hold the hose in a pail. If the stream is weak, change the filter, reconnect the line and see what happens. If it still starts and stalls it could be a clogged carburetor.

Did you do a spark check by holding the plug wire away from the engine while someone cranks it? With a spark plug in the wire, hold it at least 1/2 inch from the engine while someone cranks it. That spark should be able to jump off the plug and into the engine. If not, you have a weak coil. If the spark is strong and you have the correct plugs installed, then it almost has to be the carburetor.

Good luck with that, I have fond memories of older jeeps.

My Mazda Navajo seems to be leaking fuel near the engine is there a flexible fuel line that may have come loose? any suggestions

1st, replace your fuel filter, it probably is too dirty so fuel cannot enter the filter.

next, check if the fuel pump is still working. fuel pump might also be dirty.

I need to replace the fuel pump on my 2001 Saturn L200 with a 2.2 L Engine. What is the best procedure?

Fuel Pump REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 1.9L Engine To prevent excessive fuel spillage, whenever the tank is removed from the vehicle it should be no more than 1?2 full. Removal of the fuel pump module assembly requires the removal of the fuel tank.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Fuel feed and return lines from the filter/pressure regulator
    • Fuel pump vapor line from the fuel tank vent pipe
    • Fuel pump module retaining ring with service tool SA9156E. A 1?2 inch breaker bar will loosen the lockring
NOTE: To prevent bending of the sending unit float arm, lift the pump module up slightly to disengage the orientation tabs in the tank. Rotate the module 90 degrees clockwise until the fuel lines are facing the 1 o'clock position.
    • Fuel pump module from the fuel tank until the bottom of the pump module is close to the fuel tank opening
    • Tilt the pump module approximately 45 degrees to the right hand side of the tank and lift the pump from the fuel tank
    • Fuel pump to tank seal and discard it
    To install:
  4. Install or connect the following:
    • Fuel pump module into the fuel tank by orientating the float to face the right side and tilting the module approximately 45 degrees
    • Fuel pump into the tank and rotate the assembly 90 degrees counterclockwise to align the module tabs with the slots in the tank
NOTE: The fuel pump retaining ring cannot be properly installed if the flange locator tabs are not aligned with the slots in the fuel tank.
    • Retaining lockring with tool SA9156E
    • Vapor line to the fuel tank vent pipe
    • Fuel feed and return lines to the filter/pressure regulator
    • Fuel feed, return and EVAP canister purge line in the fuel tank retaining clip
    • Fuel tank
    • Negative battery cable
  5. Start the vehicle and check for leaks, repair if necessary.
2.2L and 3.0L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Fuel tank
    • Fuel lines from the fuel pump module cover
    • Fuel pump module retaining ring with a Sending Unit Wrench, J43827
    • Pull the retaining clip toward the float arm and lift up
    • Fuel pump straight up from the fuel tank
    • Fuel pump tank seal and discard the seal
    • Fuel feed line from the bottom of the fuel pump cover with Clamp Pliers J43914
    • Fuel pump electrical connector Fig. 1: Remove the fuel pump cover lockring-2.2L and 3.0L engines 9306zg57.gif
    To install:
  4. Install or connect the following:
    • Fuel pump feed line to the cover
    • Fuel pump electrical connector
    • Fuel pump to the new seal
    • Fuel pump cover lockring with tool J-43827
    • Fuel lines and wiring harness
    • Fuel tank
    • Negative battery cable

What is the part that the fuel line runs to from the two lines that split from the gas tank? its like a circle peice that two lines run to

If you are looking at the gas tank, you are viewing a cricle with two lines athat come out. ONe line feeds your fuel from your fuel pump to the engine, while the other line is the return line bringing unused fuel back to your tank.

Very possibly the fuel pump.Just check that there are no air locks in the system first. If you pull the feed line off before the filter and crank the engine if still no fuel then check the fel pump fuse first,if ok test the pump

Strong gas smell and poor gas mileage

If the gas odor is coming from the engine, than the problem is most likely a cracked or poorly seated fuel injector.
