The bearing that the slinder is a loose press fit into the hub. If you have one try useing a slide hammer you will have to adapt it backer plate . It will pul out it just needs some perswation. Idon't know why there is not a standard tool on the market for this purpose because a lot of vehicles have this same issue but the bearing is holding it into the hub

Remove axle

if you need to remove the axle from the spindle side then you need to take the axle nut off which you have to remove the rim n tire and it will be dead center approx 1in size nut or bigger not sure exact size

second have to remove the nut on the lower ball joint n seperate the lower control arm and strut. will need a ball joint fork which you can get at any parts store and a pry bar to push down on control arm once ball joint is broken loose to seperate the strut. this will allow you to push the axle back troungh the spindle to remove it.

last but not least where the axel goes in to the transmission you will need a small pry bar to pop it out from transmission. jus put it between axle n transmission and apply pressure till it comes out. the axel has a oring style clip which holds it in place so not able to pull it out by hand. caution when you pull the axel it will leak out some fluid so make sure you have a drain pan .

to install jus follow the process backward jus make sure the axel pops back in place securely other wise when you go to drive it you risk it poping out. good luck n hope this helps you

How do I remove the front left axle shaft on a chevy 2007

remove the axle nut first, always took the upper ball joint loose just take the nut off apply some upwards pressure and hit spindle with hammer and it will allow you to move the hub and all out enough to remove axle. the upper ball joint nut has to come off
and seperate the ball joint from the steering knuckle
then plenty of room. good-day ! then just slide axel out,or pry between axel and ****** to pop it loose, it has a locking clip on transmission side. when putting back in make sure axel is locked in ******. and do not forget to torque axel nut when done.

How do you change a front axle u-joint on a 2006 3500 dodge ram

you will have to change both sides to start with. I'm doing this on a 1996 ram 1500. first, put the truck on 2 wheel drive or neutral for traction, raise vehicle, i got a lift it's easy, remove both wheels, calipers and rotors. unlock the driveshaft nut (cotter pin) and unbolt that nut. on the inside of the hub, first mark the relation on one side between the yoke and the shaft, then, there is 3 bolts holding the hub in, remove them. next, more cotter pins, upper and lower ball joint and tie-rod end need to come out, so, unscew the tie-rod end first and seperate it with ball joint seperator. do the same for the upper and lower ball joints. seperate the spindle and the axel should come out. the rest is standard procedure to change a ball joint.
let me know if it's enough info or if you want more please.

Front axle asembly

I guess you'd like to remove the CV axel to change it? The axels acan be bought rebuilt or new for almost the same price. Auto prts ctores should have them in stock or get them in one day. Less than 50 for rebuilt and about 70 or less for new. They come with purchaser lifetime warrentee. bothe rebuilt and new the rebuilt one you need to take the core back as it might cost 60 or more or bring the old one with you. With the car jacked up and the wheels removed from the frount remove the cotter pin and the keeper from the front axel retaining nut and remove the nut it's a big one 1 3/16 inch and turn it off with your 1/2 inch air impac gun that'll hit at leasest 450 LBs/ Touque. If you don't have this tool take the car to someone that does. Remove the two bolts that hold the lower ball joint tot he lower control arm 17MM headed the same 1/2 air impac takes them out too. With a long iron bar pry the lower control arm down, you may have to smack it with a hammer to get it loose, pull the steering knuckle ( the break and rotor assembly) out and back and pust the axel out of the hub as you pull the steering knuckle back take care as to not pull the break hose too far but it's long enough to get the axel out. by pass the pused aside steering knuckel and pull the axel out of the trans. You might have to pry it out..The passenger side takes a little more doing as it has a carrier bearing bolted to the back of the block of the engine that has to be removed and a bracket that's bolted to it as well. with the carrierbearing free of the engine this axel with the steering knuckle pulled aside pulls right out no prying.

I have vaccum to the accuator and the accuator pulls the cable but still no four wheel drive. The four wheel drive lights up but not the front wheel lights and it is not locking in. help......

There is a clip on the pumpkin (front diff) that the 4wd cable connects to that is common to break. Easy fix, inspect the cable where it connects to the pumpkin and repair any damages found.

Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

Scraping pulse noise r front merc sable

Check the condition of the wheel bearings, front and back side if the brake rotor, and the back side of the rim. Everything should be clean, rust build-up can throw everything out of true. The hub or wheel-bearing should be tight and smooth when spun.

there are four 18mm bolts on the opposite side of dust plate.once u remove thoe bolts, you'll have to either use a slide hammer, or the old fashion way a big hammer and smack it side to side.the whole hub and wheel bearing assembly will come out.The dust sheild is in between the hub and axel once it comes apart u will understand.
