I just need some instructin on how to get to starter without ripping engine apart what exactly needs to be removed to get to starter to replace

The following is generic for all vehicles.

The starter motor is typically located near the bottom of the engine where it joins the transmission.Once you find the starter, remove one or both of the cables from the battery before doing anything else. You don't want to mess around with live high-current wires. The starter is easier to work on if the car is up on stands (you'll have to slide underneath to get at it.), but disconnect the battery before you jack up the car. All of the usual safety precautions about putting the car up on stands apply!

Next, note exactly where the wires go on the starter solenoid (part of the starter assembly). If necessary, label each wire with tape. Now, remove the wires and put the nuts back on the wire terminals (it isn't necessary to tighten them; you just don't want to lose them). The next step is to remove the bolts securing the starter assembly to the engine block. Pull the starter out of the hole in the transmission flywheel cover. If you are going to keep and re-use the solenoid, you can remove this from the starter on a workbench. While you are under the car, look for the engine block ground wire (sometimes a braided cable with no insulation. It is often connected near the starter. Inspect it to make sure the connection is in good condition and the cable is not frayed.

My 2004 kia spectra will not start, even when i replaced a new starter

Did you replace the starter yourself or have a garage do it? It sounds like the starter gear is not aligned properly with the ring gear on the engine. Sometimes a 'shim' is needed to make them align. Compare the old starter with the new one to see they are exact or is if a shim fell off when removing the old.

Where are the motor mount bolts

Your under the car working on the starter

You look at the mounts,they have to have at least 2 or 3
bolts holding them to the sub frame,you don't remove the
engine side of mount !!!

The car was bone dry on antifreeze. while driving yesterday could smell antifreeze and i have no heat

prob heater core, roughly 750 to replace, whole dash needs ripped out..unless it is just a hose off at the firewall leading to the heater core or leaking radiator hose..fill the system with clean water and look for leaks, you wont have heat without enough collant in the engine to circulate under 13 psi closed system, check the resevoir for cracks and leaks mine fell apart over years good luck

What is the solenoid?

The solenoid is part of your engine's starting system. Basically, it is the part of the starter motor that accepts the electricity, and kicks the starter motor into action. On a lot of cars, this is a permanent fixture on the starter motor, and both have to be replaced at once if there is a problem. More rarely, the solenoid is a semi-separate part that can be removed apart from the starter motor and replaced without having to remove the starter motor. The specific location, and design of the solenoid varies from car to car, but it's function remains constant.

1999 Camry; Starter won't work when engine is cold

There are contacts located inside the solenoid of the starter that fail with age.

As the contacts where down, the starter likes to 'stick' and can take many tries to start, often requiring jostling like turning the wheel.

There are two options to correct this. The first obviously is to replace the starter.
To save some money you can replace the contacts instead.

Doing this requires unhooking your battery and removing the starter from the car.
Then remove the access plate on the back of the solenoid (3 8mm bolts), take out the plunger and spring. From there you can see the copper contacts, and how they have worn. Remove the 12m and 14mm on either side of the housing and push the bolts through to release the contacts and install new in the same order they came apart.

If you are taking this to a repair shop, be advised most independent shops will just try to sell you a $450 starter. Provide them these instructions or take it to a Toyota dealer and ask for "starter contacts" and they will know exactly what you need.

Best Method to Replace Starter on 1993 Pickup

According to the online manual at AutoZone, you need to remove the right front wheel, the front gravel shield, the exhaust manifold heat insulator, the exhaust manifold, and detach the oil pressure switch connector. The picture shows lifting the starter out from the top once it is unbolted.

I've changed the starter on a '95 with a 4 cylinder engine, and the top bolt was a bugger to get to, requiring two extensions and a universal on my ratchet set. Good luck!

No, you can access the starter from the bottom of the engine without having to remove anything else. I replaced the starter on my 94 3.3 myself without having to remove anything else. Good Luck!!!!!

The starter is not on the inside of your engine, it is on the outside front of engine, it is round with a heavy cable going to it and some small wires. Here is the procedure to remove it. You will need a hydraulic floor jack.

its a bit tough but first disconnect the battery.then jack the car up safely.after that remove the two starter mounting bolts and pull the starter out slowly.then unbolt the wires at the starter when the starter is hanging by the wires(carefully)remove the starter and reverse the steps to reinstall the starter and reconnect the battery
