Question about Chevrolet Chevy

1 Answer

Hi, I`m Rick. I took out motor and tranny in my 55 chevy. Put in all new gaskets and chrome. Painted both, and put them back in. But I forgot to remember how to hookup the linkage on the transmission. I`m looking for a diagram on how to hook it up. Please email me at sprinter72@aol.com. Thanks-Rick

By now, there have to be no less than twenty different transmissions that fit and are used in your car (both auto and stick) "the transmission" does not tell anyone anything about what you are using.

My 1999 chevy blazer wont shift out of low

My husband had the same problem with his 1988 S10 Blazer. We drained the tranny, cleaned out the pan and put in a new filter etc. Filled with new fluid and all problems solved. Shifts better now then before the tranny service.

1996 chevy c1500 5.7. i replaced the lower intake gasket. now with it all put back together it wont start. i took the distributor out and set the motor to TDC and set the distributor to the #1 cylinder....

You need to pull the distributor back out, put motor to TDC
now you say its always a tooth off...the timing chain may be alittle worn..so when you are trying to put the distribor back in ...put a socket or something... to move the crankshaft.....move it back and forth untill the distributor falls in....AT the number one plug on cap....
Hope this helps you out ??

Hi, I have a 2006 chevy aveo and I was recently told that I needed to replace the valve cover gasket because it's leaking oil. How do I replace a valve cover gasket on a 2006 chevy aveo? Much...

Its easy. I did mine about a month ago. You need to take off all the bolts on the top part of the motor. there are some tubes on the left side of the motor by pushing them out of the way... you take the old one off and replace it with the new one making sure its aligned and the you put it back on.. the bolts need to be hand tightened kinda as tight as you would do your tires.

How do i drain and flush my trany fluid

Hi, Get a good size oil pan because their isn't just a plug to remove. You have to take off the whole pan on the bottom of the tranny. There will be between 10 an 20 bolts holding it on. After removed you will see the filter it will be square or rectangular like shaped. Simply just pull it out from the tranny it just plugs in. You should change the filter along with the fluid and gasket. Be sure to remove all of old gasket. When putting back together use liquid gasket, put a little bit on your finger or small globs around the pan where the gasket will go. Do this before putting new gasket on. Spread thre liqiud gasket around where the gasket will go. After that lay the new gasket on top of the newly applied liquid gasket. This will help out considerably in keeping the gasket in place when putting the pan back on. Line up the pan hold in place with one hand and screw in a two or 3 bolts by hand, you just want to get them started so they will hold the pan up while putting in the rest. After all bolts are in tighen down alternating side to side end to end tighten firmly but do not over tighten, the tranny is aluminum and the threads will strip if over tightened. Filling the tranny you will need a transmission funnel, you can get them at wal-mart any parts store. It is a long thin funnel than goes directly into the dipstick tube and fill from there. Put in two quarts and then start the engine to check level. The car has to be runnig wlie you check the fluid level. I hope this helped you out. It would be greatly appreciated if you could rate my answer, Thanks. Good luck...... MIKE-

first you need to buy transmission fluid new filter and new gasket.you need 11.4 pints of transmision fluid.raise front of vechicle.set parking brake.block both back wheels.besure support vechicle weight with jack stands. get a drain pan.if your transmission pan dont have a drain plug.loosen rear pan bolts a few turns.remove the front and side transmission pan bolts. let fluid drain.remove tranny pan. then clean old gasket material from transmission and pan carefully.dont scratch or damage surface.clean old tranny bolts using brake cleaner or buy new tranny bolts.you have to put a tiny film of rtv silicone on tranny bolts so they wont leak.carefully remove old tranny filter and put on new filter.clean all grease grim away from tranny pan it should be **** and span because.you might need a little gasket adhesive to hold gasket in place while putting pan back on transmission.to line up bolt holes.loosely put all bolts in you have to move pan a little to get holes line up.when all is finish put tranny fluid back in.besure you put 11.4 pints back in that about 6.5 quarts. make sure tranny fluid level is right before driving vechicle.l
