I have a 1985 FJ62 Land Cruiser, and the temperature gauge goes to red when the motor is not hot, i put the gear in neutral and the temperature gauge comes back to the middle position . In one moment the temperature gauge and the fuel gauge goes both to the high point without a reason.

When i´m driving in a highway, the temperature gauge and the fuel gauge (both at the same time) goes to the high position (hot-full)without a reason; when this happens i put the gear in neutral and both gauges return to its normal position. This does not occur driving in the city, only in long travels in the highway.

    Thank you for your answer.

This problem only happens when im driving in a highway for 30 or 40 minutes, never when im driving in the city. It looks like the voltage goes up of 12V for some time and the problem start, then i put the gear in neutral the voltage goes down too and the two gauges goes to the normal position.

The electric circuit thru those indicators goes like this: from battery to key contact, to fuse box, to the instrument panel, thru the dial indicator, out of the panel and up to the sensor and from the sensor to the ground. The indicators show their max when the resistance of the sensor is practically 0. If you get random max indications it means that there is a short to the ground after the dial - either in the instrument panel or in the wiring leading from it to the sensors. Since the bad indications occur when the truck is jerking due to the transmission shifting it;s almost surely in the wiring.
All you have to do is to take the instrument panel off and inspect the wiring leading from it up to the bulkhead and immediately after it, locate the frayed portions of the wires and insulate them.

The short occurs when one of the connectors or wires are getting heated up, expand and the metal pins inside it lose connection or the wires short. Since just putting the lever in neutral fixes it it means that the connector/wires is in the engine bay and they get knocked by the linkage coming from the shifter. You will need to get under it and check the wiring there.

Sound like a problem woth the engine temperature sending unit or bad thermostat device. About the fuel gauges to high, check wiring connections ans right voltage.

When driving my land cruiser there is a whining noise ,Ive been told that it is the speedo cable, the sound is coming below and back a bit from gear stick, sounds like it could be coming from area wear...

This sounds more like a u joint or internal transmission bearing to me. Normally if the speedo cable goes bad the speedo will not work. It could also be the gear that drives the cable too. I would have a trusted transmission expert look at it.
