You should be able to find a hanger kit at Autozone, Oreillys , or Advance autoparts. Usually a loose weld from the pipe can be fixed using a U-bolt around the remaining metal hook. The rubber mount can be changed with a universal strap and a U-bolt. Sometimes it may take 2 hangers to replace 1 factory hanger.

You can also go to a muffler shop and have a new hanger welded on for a small amount.

Need muffler bracket

If the hanger is still there you just need to put it back in the hanger. If it is missing head to a parts store. they can tell you what hanger is missing and sell you a replacement. Easy to install.

From rear of muffler extension, the muffler clamp is so rusted i'm at a standstill of how to get it off without ******* up the muffler.

Hello, Just use a hacksaw and saw through it. Then get a U-bolt and replace the clamp. Hanger straps are also available which will allow you to rehang the part. Sometimes you need to brace the muffler with a block of wood and a jack. You just want to keep the muffler from dropping down.

Since the muffler is secure with the jack, as long as no one sits in the car or adds any weight to the vehicle. Then you just add the new hanger or clamp, tighten it, and lower the jack.

The muffler hanger broke on my toyota corolla, how do i replace the hanger?

Roll Your OwnThis model's muffler hanger (the metal strap holding the muffler itself onto the car body) is a two-piece design held together with two bolts. The lower piece, shaped like a broad U, can break loose if one of the bolts rusts away. Replacement parts from the local auto store come as a single piece and are not an exact match. This type of replacement will require some determined work to fit once you have removed all of the entire original strap components. And it will cost $30 plus a trip to the hardware store.

If the original U-shaped lower piece is lost or too damaged to reattach, it is a simple matter to fashion a new one with items available at any Home Depot and costing about $6. 1.5-inch wide galvanized metal strips with a row of holes down the middle come in 4 foot lengths, and metric nuts and bolts are often in the same section. Assuming none of the bolts are left, you'll need two 8mm 1.25 bolts, two nuts of the same size, and a few washers big enough to fit easily over the bolts.

Once home, a simple pliers and hacksaw are all you need to bend and shape the galvanized strip to fit around the lower half of the muffler, which should be about two feet in length. After that, it's just a matter of supporting the dangling muffler (a jack or a piece of wood) and screwing the new piece into each end of the original upper half of the hanger. A number 13 metric wrench will do the trick. If you're comfortable with basic tools, this repair will take 20 minutes and outlast your Corolla. -dan parker

The metal band that holds the muffler in place has rusted out. it looks fairly easy to replace. is it as easy as it looks, and is the part easy to order, and what's the official name for this part?? ...

for some silly reason, the actual correct part for this only comes with the new muffler from the dealer. you need to go to a parts store and buy a universal muffler hanger to rig up. good luck!

Exhaust tube is dragging

You can fix this until you get the parts by using a wire hanger. The part that broke is called the muffler hanger. Not a big deal and is an easy fix. You don't have to buy anything spectacular if you don't want to. It is just to support the muffler/exhaust.

Now, did the muffler get the hole in it or did the catalytic converter get it?

We have a 2002 nissan altima that has started making a loud rattling noise. There appears to be two rings loosely hanging on a flexible portion of the exhaust.

Just take it into the exhaust people and they will rehang it with new surports plus the muffler might have baffles broken .

Pontiac Sunfire Exhaust pipe hanging low

Most local muffler shop will inspect the exhaust for you for free and if it's just a broken hanger, they can replace it for around $45.00. You could always go to the auto parts store and buy a new hanger, but your going to have to get under the car and remove any old parts left over from the old hanger and place the new one. Good luck and hope this helps. If you go to Auto Zone they can help you look up all the hangers for that car or any muffler shop as mentioned earlier.
