Question about 1997 Audi A6

1 Answer

The inside drivers door lever will not open the door, I have replaced the cable from the lever to the door lock a week ago because the cable broke. The lever worked the lock for a week and now the lock will not open from the inside the cable is ok because I can hear it moving the lock mechanism part of the way but it will not go the last bit to open.

No idea here without removing the door panel myself to have a good look so i would suggest that as you open door from outside then it isnt the central door locking but a mechanical problem like the plastic clip has come off or wasnt fitted right and now its dropped out of the hole on the door lock mechanism

Back near side door lock latch won't fully open preventing me from opening door from inside or outside on 2005 Ford focus possible causes

The most common cause for this is the door opening lever on the lock assembly is sitting slightly between the open and closed position and will not allow the lock arm to operate properly. I am not positive, but I think the lever is cable operated by the inside handle. You may be able to remove the inside handle assembly and access this cable and slide it in and out to see if the door lock will open

2008 Toyota Camry gas-cap door release is stuck; how do you release it?

Hi fellow,
Your problem has two options ;first, you have to inspect the interior wire that pulls the lock of the gas cap.If found cut you should replace it at the mechanic's. Secondly, once the wire remains uncut or undamaged by any reason, the lock itself might be jammed due to the rust or misuse. Therefore, you are advised to use some anti rust liquid it wil work. Good Luck.

98 accord door handle broke door will not open

A non electric door, (which?) wont open, lock works ok, handle wont open the door.
What can I do to fix it.
well telling the door to us would help, and options.
so no electric locks,
there are 2 levers. one inside and one outside.
so you pull the door card (inside door covering)
and look at both locks , the inside pull, its it working?
then look at the key lock cylinder. is it connected still
and last are both connected to the latch mechanism.
one can cycle this latch lever inside the door shell.
if that fails the latch is busted.
all this is covered in the FSM ,why not read it.? (under body)
free , too.

My gas door release lever is not working and i cannot get my gas door to open so i can put gas in it. What do I do?

I do not believe you have access to the mechanism inside the back of the car to operate it from the back seat or the trunk. I believe the access to the mechanism is through the back seat panels and not through the trunk covers in the back. If the cable broke at the lever under the seat , you may be able to unscrew/bolt the lever holder and grab the end of the wire with a pliers and open the door. If you have an old credit card or stiff poster board you may be able to slide it into the opening side of the door to push the angle pin that locks it closed to open the door. Typically the angled pin locks into a slot in the door. The slot in the door is like a long tab. If you place a piece of card board over the paint and gently push a flat blade screw driver into the gap you can gently pry/bend the tab enough to open the door. If the tab is bent you can leave it that way so you can open the door by hand until you replace the cable. Then after replacing the cable , just bend the tab back so the door locks again. Most gas doors have locks just to keep honest people honest.

Same thing happened with mine. It turned out that the power door lock motor went out. Since the handle or the switch can unlock the driver's door, both of these mechanisms are connected. When the door lock motor goes out it freezes in whatever position, it was last engaged.

About 6 months ago someone tried to break into my driver side door. Ever since, you couldn't unlock the door from the outside with a key. The door would open and close just fine though. About a week ago,...

That sounds like what happened to my neighbor. They came to the conclusion that someone tried to jam a screwdriver in the lock to open the door.As far as not openeing anymore, that happened to me and I had to replace the mechanism inside the door.I bought a used one for $5 and did it myself.A regular mechanic should be able to fix it however, you may end up needing to have 2 separate keys for your car if they replace the lock.1 for the ignition and other locks, and 1 for the drivers side lock.Call around a few places for a few estimates.Tell them the same as what you posted, they should be able to give a close estimate over the phone. Also, please read my tip about car keys.It is good free info.Good luck! Hey there,
I have the same problem, for me it was the metal ball at the end of the cable, on the inside of the door, was broken off. To me it seems it needs to have that cable or the clip attaching the cable replace. I took off the door panel and used a mirror to peer inside. You'll have to unscrew a plastic black cover which hides the cables near the mechanism.
Hope this helps

Drivers door won't open using key, handle or push button. Passenger door window won't go up using drivers or passenger door button

there is a broken spring inside the latch assembally. i dont think it can be replaced but if you remove the door panek from inside you can reach the latch assabally and find the lever that the spring was operating. when you pull up on the lever the door lock will work.. attach a new spring to the lever and to the inside of the bolt that attaches the exterior door handle and you will be back in buisness. had the same problem with my wifes sport trac and fixed around two years ago and sill works fine

Driver door will not open from inside

Your inside door handle is probably broken. The gear has stripped causing it not to work. Remove the door panel to verify the rod for the inside handle is not moving. .
