Do a tune-up. this could cause your gas mileage to be extremely poor. And check your oxygen sensors. Hope this helps, James Booth

Reset ecm for premium gas

you dont need to reset your ECM to burn premium gas, just add gas, over time the ECM will adjust to octane. May take a tank or 2.

Otherwise there is a fuse , read articel:

I ran my 2006 chevy uplander out of gas now it wont start even using starter fluid

after putting some gas in your tank, step on the gas pedal repeatedly (step to it fully), then while pressing, start your car. the fuel was completely drained from your system thus there are no fuel to burn in able for your car to start.

pressing the gas pedal repeatedly (around 10 times will do) will put some fuel in your combustion chamber, so the car will now have something to burn if you will start the car

My 2001 suburban is making oil, however it does not smell like gas and the oil is not milky. I've tested for headgasket failure and I do not think that is the case. My next step will be to see if the oil...

If you suspect gas dilution of the oil, DON'T try to burn it. If it does have gas in it the liquid won't burn but the vapor will FLASH and may burn you.
What you need to do is more tests. I would do a cooling system pressure test and a Used Oil analysis. There are kits you can get at your local parts stores to test for exhaust gases in the coolant (head gasket, crack). Use Google and search for "used Oil Analysis"..Blackstone labs is popular, cost is about $25.00

Burn tomuch gas

If a car burns to much gas then, the timing chain/belt is too loose, and the engine is off timing and burn more gas. There might be another reasons, vacuum leak included but you will have service engin soon light on. A visit at Autozone will help. They scan codes for free. Hope this might help.

Gas Smell

check under hood while it is running to see if there is gasoline dripping anywhere. You need to find it before it catches on fire. Use a bright flashlight and look at the fuel injectors and loser intake manifold as injector o-ring could be leaking. DO NOT use a lighter. Sorry, but I had to stress this. Gasoline does not burn. The fumes burn.
