Just the exaust isnt going to make a huge difference but it will make some it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend
you could get new headers and run mandrel bent 3inch pipe all the way back using a flow through muffler (which one depends on what type of sound you want)
cherrybomb - deeper throaty rumble
or for a tuner ish sound a skunk2
also dont install a catalytic converter (if state legal) and if you do install a high flow model

How to bleed cooling sysem

Just drive and add coolant from time to time. Carefully open the filler cap. If coolant keep missing you may have a leak. If you see no leakage you can see for white smoke in the exhaust. if pressure keeps building up in the system you have a cracked cylinder head or a bad head gasket.

The very first thing you need to do is a good tuneup including plugs, wires, rotor, cap, air and fuel filters and fix the exhaust. There is a good chance your problem will be solved. Note that your car MUST have an intact exhaust system or it will lose a lot of power.

i replaced my cat with a high flow cat and flowmaster 40 series exhaust about 4 years ago now. good set up on my 2.2L 4cyl 5spd. sounds excellent. the only problem, since it is a high flow cat and free flowing exhaust, there is little if any back pressure, and so i really dont have that much torque anymore. it actually made my truck slower on the bottom end. not that the 2.2L is a speed demon. lol. you could probably get away with a test pipe that is still the same size as the stock pipe and it will sound gread. as far as gas mileage, i doubt it will do anything to help. my exhaust didnt help my gas mileage any. the only thing ive noticed that got me more mileage is replacing the stock air filter with a drop in K&N filter. i got about 5 more miles a gallon just by doing that. good luck.
