Thanks for your response. Once racing is in your blood, you'll never stop dreaming and talking about it. Interesting isn't it, that the older we get, the faster we were back in the day! I caught the virus from my faather. He never had the money to actually build or get a car and all that goes with it. We saw Stirling Moss, Bruce McLaren, I can't remember much more. It was a Formula 1 race in Riverside, CA. $$$$$ is always the road block and nowadays, the cars are so fast, so good (Mostly) you gotta have something to cheat like hell and not get caught.Anyway, do you have any specificc suppliers, or Bran you'v used? Suspension drives me up the wall! Thanks for everything and Good Luck in whatever you do.

How you are today? your understeer problem, look into sway bars, check you spring set up and tire pressure. your front brakes, thats a matter of how hard you are on the brakes, seeing as how they are most of your stopping power it wouldnt hurt at all to upgrade all parts, maybe some nice stainless lines as well to reduce line flex. make sure you tell your computer what you have done to the motor as well, as i'm sure you know the more air you feed to heart of the beast the more gas it needs not run lean, i see it a lot kids put the go fast goodies and run there motor lean over it and have to replace or rebuild.
I'm so happy to hear that you are the age you are and still racing. SCCA is a great thing to be in, i raced shifter karts and an old bug in the SCCA lone star pro time trials and never got it out of my blood but had to stop because of money. if you have any qustions or there is anything else i can help with please let me know
The best of luck

What would cause the car to not get enough gas or air intake while driving the car and giving it more gas

Fuel starvation can be caused by dirty fuel filters, bad fuel pumps or a throttle position sensor that is not working properly. If the car drives normally at lower speeds and only has problems at faster speeds or under hard acceleration, I would change the fuel filter first.

91 mitsubishi 3000gt seems to idle ok, but has no power and will not go faster than 40mph.

sounds like you may have a plugged up exhaust or catalytic converter. Try removing the o2 sensors from exhaust pipes and see if it runs better. If it was a timing issue it would idle bad.

I have a 2009 dodge charger. I wanted to change my intake to a cold air intake. i notice there a hole where the original is at on the bottom. Does that need to me covered or not?

in my opinion about cold air intakes, it is actually better to get a K&N drop in air filter.
you will get the same effect except the filter won't be sucking in HP robbing hot air from the engine

1995 ford taurus will not start

a faulty coolant temperature sensor could be at fault. if its telling the computer the engine is hot when its actually cold, it can cause performance problems. when the sensor tells the computer its cold, it richens the fuel mixture. once the car warms up, it leans the mixture out. if the mixture is too lean at startup, it will run poorly

I'm assuming that you're asking how to make the car faster with bolt-on modifications.

1. Buy a cold air intake. Preferrably one that puts the actual filter in the fender well. That will help to bring in cooler air, making the air/fuel mixture more dense= better combustion(more power)

2. Exhaust. I'd start with a cat-back exhaust system. They are usually found pretty cheap on ebay. That will help with finding some higher rpm power, and since it starts after the catalyctic converter, it's legal. You might also look into some equal-length headers.

3. Underdrive pulleys. These help lose weight on the rotating assembly of the engine. That will help your engine rev quicker and get you into the RPMs where you make power.

Those will be the easiest for making bolt-on power. If you were to get deeper into the engine there would be better ways to make power; such as cams, forged pistons, nitrous, turbos, etc.

Once you start making some power, you'll probably also want to look into ways to make sure it's getting put to the ground. I would suggest getting a heavier clutch and a lightened flywheel. The heavier clutch would hold more power and the lighter flywheel would allow the car to rev up faster, allowing you to get into the power quicker.
