Check air filter, Check also air intake to carburetor. Generally when you have a cold start problem of this kind on an old stile carb engine it is related to air and carburetor setting.

Hi,

A couple of checks on hard starting of cold engines:

  • vacuum leak;
  • auto choke;
  • compression test.
Since basic requirement is fuel and spark (at the right moment) for engine to run, pls check for sparks at the plugs when cranking. Additionally, try pouring ether or fuel after removing air filter. If it runs (even for a short time), then fuel is not getting through and could mean clog filters or weak fuel pump or dirty/stuck injectors.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Try a Seafoam treatment on the car - you'll want to do it on the intake/vacuum system, the crankcase, and the fuel. Pour one can entirely into the fuel tank. Put half of a second can into the crankcase, drive the car 30 miles, and change the oil and filter. The rest of that can can be sucked up into the intake manifold through a vacuum line. Pull off a vacuum line, check for suction over the nipple on the manifold, and use fishtank tubing or other similar tubing to allow the engine to **** up the rest of the can of Seafoam. You'll want a second person there to hold the RPM around 2000 while you do this. The car will want to bog down and possibly stall, so if you have a second person, you can keep it running more easily.

You will have a huge amount of smoke coming out the tailpipes - it's all excess carbon/combustion byproducts that are coating everything inside the vacuum system - the idle air motor, throttle body, valves, intake runners - everywhere that it can be, it is, and it can screw up the running of the car very easily.

I've had great results with this treatment over time on a variety of cars - give it a shot and see what happens.

Where is the fuel filter located on the 1979 Aston Martin

If it has the original Bosch fuel injection, it will be accessible through the left side wheel well, or through the service hatch in the trunk (boot), and there may be a secondary one inline before it reaches the fuel injection under the hood (bonnet). If the fuel injection has been replaced with an updated one, your guess is as good as mine.

Engine stalls. 4 times engine stalls, let sit for

sounds to me that there could be an engine temperature switch that is malfunctioning or not working at all. the temperature switch tells the engine that its cold and that the fuel injection system should operate in cold mode. the switch then tells the computer to start the engine in cold mode. if it malfunctions, the engine controlling unit confuses itself and then cuts off. this is an early sign of that unit failing until the car won't start at all. it's just wear and tear and time that does these things. a good mechanic should help you out quick and should be a couple of ours work. good luck

1979 ford f250 wont start unless i put gas in CARB

first of all you have no carb its fuel injected, at least you know you have spark, now do you have fuel pressure??, is the fuel pump working?/ if you have fuel and pressure then you have to check signal at the injectors, so if you have fuel pressure and a good injector pulse the next step is to check the injectors, this may require removal, good luck

1977 vw rabbit will not start and run if cold,

Ther are a few items that could be causing your problem. first there is a temp sensor that turns on a cold start valve to give it a shot of fuel to help start when cold. second of corse would be the cold start valve is bad, and not spraying like it should. And then you also have an item called an auxillary air valve that lets in more air durring start up that could be bad. and ect ect ect. The best thing to do would be to get a book called Bosh Fuel Injection & Engine Managment written by Charles Probst and published by Robert Bently. i got mine at Books a Million, but am sure you could order one on Ammazon. You have what is called a continuios fuel injection system CSI for short, and can be a bit of a bear to work on without any books. Once you read and understand what you have , the better of you will be. On the bright note, this is one of the most reliable type of injection systems on the market, and yours being an early year without any type of computer, is very easy to work on.

My toyota corolla is always hard to start whenever it is cold day?how can i fix it?

Yourr car have 4 cylinders, there are 4 injectors and 1 cold start injector. You can trace it from your Fuel distributor. Your cold start is operated by a electric valve. It has a normal close state and only open when you start the engine. Its function to inject extra fuel so you can have a rich mixture for easy start. Now it is dead so you don't have a fast start. Have it replaced then you will be happy.

THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED IN THE FUEL TANK. IF IT IS WORKING YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HEAR IT SQUEALING WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED TO THE RUN POSITION PRIOR TO ACTUALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT WILL BE A HIGH PITCH. IF NOT THEN THAT WOULD BE A STARTING POINT. ALSO FUEL INJECTED CARS HAVE A COLD START ENRICHMENT VALVE THAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. THIS VALVE CAUSES A MOMENTARY FUEL RICH SITUATION SO THE ENGINE CAN START. IT IS BASICALLY A CHOKE FOR FUEL INJECTED ENGINES.
