Question about 1995 Chrysler LeBaron

1 Answer

My 3.0 Lebaron will not start. Starts with starter fluid but dies as soon as its burned off. Pulled the fuel line, squirted me in the face and there is fuel in the rails. There were no performance issues before it just refused to start (about ten minutes or so after I drove it about 10 miles down the road) so it doesn't seem like the injectors would be the issue. Pulled the EGR valve cleaned out the carbon...but still will not

I'll hit up a parts place tonight and see about borrowing a pressure tester. As a side note, I replaced the plugs and wires as well (they needed replacing, it was far over due). Thanks for the timely response. I'm hoping to barrage the thing tonight so any other suggestions are certainly welcome.

Even with fuel in the rails and on the face, the fuel pump could be going bad or you could have blockage in the fuel line or filter. Check the fuel pressure to isolate the problem.

Audi a4 stalled and wont start

Remove the air filter and squirt a bit starter fluid into the intake manifold , then immediately try to start the car if it starts , that is an indication there is no fuel going to the engine ,check the fuel system,if it does not start , you may have an ignition problem.

Chrysler lebaron problems

sounds like a bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay

Would a faulty electric fuel pump relay be the reason there is no power going down to the fuel pump in a 2002 suzuki grand vitara 2.0 rhz diesel engine

To test fuel flow, have a 2nd person stand over air filter (air filter housing open) with a can of starting fluid in one hand. Don't give any throttle, then 2nd person gives 1-second squirt into air filter while you're turning starter motor (no throttle). When engine catches, immediately give one third to one half throttle. Just before it dies, 2nd person should give another short squirt of starting fluid to keep engine from dying. If throttle won't keep engine running and only starting fluid keeps it running, then yes, no fuel is going through fuel lines. Either its a fuel pump issue or maybe there's restriction because of clogged dirty fuel filter. If it starts but runs rough and has black exhaust smoke, then its clogged or dirty fuel injectors.

Can't get the car started. been sitting for a few months. starter fluid gets it going for just a few seconds. car has gas. EFI. Any suggestions or good web sites for research. Thanks

Starter fluid gets it going would say that it has spark so the problem must lie in the fuel delivery.
Need to check fuel pressure. Sometimes the pumps will just die after sitting for a long period.
And just seeing if fuel squirts out of a line or a test port does not cut it. The system would need a certain amount of pressure to work.

First, did you try pumping the gas pedal and starting the car? It may take a few minutes since the fuel lines need to be pressurized again.
If this still doesn't work, your fuel pump may have died. Fuel in the tank helps to keep the fuel pump from overheating and failing. Have your fuel pressure tested and check/replace the fuel pump. Have you tried gas or starter fluid in air induction system? you only need a couple teaspoons of gas or short squirt of starting fluid. When you "crank engine' it will start up and give a "short burst of power", as the available fuel is burned! If this happens, you definitely have a fuel problem, most likely leading to the fuel pump.

My 1995 chrysler lebaron starts and dies. runs great on eather but wont squirt gas into the motor. fuel pump works great injectors open when key is on and then close and wont reopen.

You might also want to check to see if you vehicle has an anti theft function i have the 95 lebaron and if the anti theft is activated it starts runs for a few second and dies. if battey dies or is replaced i have to go to the passenger door and put in the key and turn it 4-5 times then it starts and runs so try this first.
