I need to change a coil spring on the rear, not an electrical coil.

It is REALLY simple. You wil need a 7mm socket wth an extension and ratchet or a nut-driver handle. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil. Remove the 2 screws holding the coil to the Ignition Control Module. Remove the coil. Reverse steps to install.

    OOPS! MAJOR DIFFERENCE!!!
If you are going to do this in your driveway, you are going to need an hydraulic jack, a GOOD set of jack stands, a 1/2" drive metric socket set with a breaker bar, a set of metric wrenches (probably up to at least, 21mm), a long pry bar, an alignment punch (tapered) a straight punch, a large hammer, a ball joint separator tool, a pair of diagonal cutters, a roll of mechanics wire, and a lot of stamina and patience.

    1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove tire and wheel assembly. Remove brake caliper (Do Not remove hoses) and wire it up out of the way. Disconnect tie rod from knuckle. Use jack to support lower control arm. Remove height sensor link from lower control arm.

    2. Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Use the ball joint/stud separator to disconnect the balljoint from the knuckle after removing the nut.

    3. Use the jack to relieve the coil spring tension. Carefully remove the coil spring and the jounce bumper. Reverse procedure to install.

NOTE: you may have to loosen the lower control arm to cross-member mounting bolts to get the control arm to swing down far enough to get the spring out. If you find this is necessary, mark the position of the alignment cams with a paint pen or marker BEFORE loosening the bolts so the cams can be returned to the same position upon reassembly.

I don't show a dist cap available for a 3.4 V6 - so it is probably DIS.
The plug wires would go directly to a set of coils.

2001 Pontiac Aztec 3.4 liter V-6. How do you change the rear spark plugs

It's not easy.
It took me four hours to change the three plugs on the rear bank, but it can be done.
The way I did it, I put the aztec up on ramps, slid underneath and followed the spark plug wires down to the plugs. I ended up working mostly by feel instead of sight.
With a lot of patience, an assortment of extensions and a swivel joint, the plugs can be changed.

An extra elbow in your right arm, and a large assortment of four letter words would also be handy to have.
Good luck!

Do not tow it with any wheels on the ground it will burn up the trans and transfer case. If you use a dolly on the front remove the rear driveshaft.
