As confirmed by you the fault can be due to water spilling on the distributor or the electrics of the coil circuit. Check the HT lines, make sure that there is no water that seems to be spilling to the HT wires or the distributor or the coils. If so you can use rubber CAP protection- a shield over the HT circuits with an insulated cap. Also if there is any issues with the shield of the engine bonnet or the under side covers that can spill up water.

My engine warning light came on yesterday when I started my vehicle and comes on each time I start it now. No engine noises, not overheating, no change in performance. Is this the dealers way of getting me...

If you are referring to the Check Engine warning light, it is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. It can be as simple as a loose gas cap, or it can be many other things. You will need to take it to your mechanic and have him scan the ECU with a OBD2 scan tool. This will retrieve the code that has been stored in the computer. That code will tell him where to start looking for the problem. And no, this is not a way for the dealer to get you to bring the car in for repair. There is definitely a problem with the emissions system on your vehicle or the light would not be on. Only your mechanic can tell you exactly what is wrong.

Have a 2001 grand marqui. every time after it rains it won't start. cranks but wont run. been to 3 mechanics who can't solve the problem

car which won't start in the rain usually needs a new set of good spark plug wires, made for the engine not a generic set, and a healthy dose of spray which displaces moisture around all underhood electrical connections; especially if the plug wires are 10 years old. of course your three mechanics have already suggested that so i would take it to a dealer in case they have seen some odd thing about that particular rmodel over the years.

1994 3.0 Merc. Sable (153K miles). Intermittent no start (cranks, but won't turn over). When it does start, it sometimes runs rough until it warms up. The problem first started in the summer time a couple...

This could be fuel not reaching the injectors. Check for a clogged fuel filter or fuel lines. Dirty or clogged fuel injectors. Also difficulty starting after rain can be caused from old plug wires. I hope this helps.

Any chrysler dealer can access the data base and determine what recalls there were for your vehicle and what has been taken care of or not. (You need to give them the VIN#)
As far as the hard or not starting, it can be caused by a faulty computer but can also be caused by numerous other items as well. Taking the car to the shop is a good idea because they should be equipped with the necessary diagnostics equipment to find your problem. Some dealers will insist that they do any recall work or updates. Providing they do that free, there is no problem with that. Anything they charge for they cannot force you to have them do.
Good luck, hope it turns out well!!!

1992 Lincoln Continental engine/gasket problem

These vehicles are historic for head gasket problems. Ford had issued a recall because there where so many problems. The new head gasket is a different material than the original. Cost to replace varies by shop and geographic location, plan on around 1100 bucks.

Every time it rains, and my truck sits in the rain for an extended period of time, when I go to drive somewhere, a few minutes down the road the truck starts to stutter and shake, or **** either when I'm...

I had a 93 Nissan that had a similar intermittent problem running when wet, humid or after sitting. Usually it would start fine and run well most of the time, but stutter, shake or die. It sometimes had low power and got terrible highway mileage even though it was a 4 cyl. 5 spd. When it was dry and not humid, it ran like it was new. I thought it was the ignition wires and changed them with no results. 2 Nissan dealers said everything was fine--it never acted up when they had it. I found a web site that had Nissan technical service bulletins and found one that described the problem--there's a connector in the wiring that needs replacing. It's wrapped in black tape and is a crimp connection. Dealers told me that couldn't be the problem (it was still under warranty), so I took the truck and bulletin to a non-Nissan mechanic. Within an hour he found the connection, replaced it, and the truck ran perfect after that. Sorry but I don't have the technical service bulletin anymore. I may have found it under a different year . .Good luck.
