I have the same problem. I have a 2002 Ford Windstar SE and I have changed the spark plugs, pcv valve, 2 oxygen sensors at the catalytic converter, 1 at the front of the engine on the manifold. Engine light is still on, it's still hestitating and mis-firing and now I find that I have another oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold and we can't seem to find it. Help!!!!It's a code PO171 for Bank 1. I'm going nuts.....Please some one help me!!!

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4L and is driving me nuts.... I took it to the mechanic because every time I stop at the red light the rpm starts going up and down and then it dies on me. The mechanic changed the pcv valve and it didn't work, then he changed the hose behind it and it didn't work, then the air valve in the back of the MAF and it still did the same thing!!!!! I don't know what to do anymore he says the computer doesn't register what the exact problem is..HELP!!

When in doubt, with ALL Windstar "mystery engine/power train problems, make sure all of the GROUND STRAP connections are clean & tight. Especially the starter ground strap. Sounds silly, but if you've got intermittent "juice" the computer will go out of it's mind and you'll have all kinds of strange results! - stumbles when stopped and accelerating at low speeds

ENGINE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION
LOSS OF ACCELERATION

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.
There are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault lies: -------

1996 Ford Taurus power hesitation

If you disconnected the Mass air flow sensor the car should have die out at idle. Check fuel pump pressure at the fuel rail should be 30 psi at idle. Low fuel pressure will cause your po 171, 172, problems which could cause the other to problems. You might be needing a fuel pump and filter.

2002 nissan when i accelerate makes a rattling sound

the octane of the fuel is too low or the timing is too fast.
A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
* There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.

You will more than likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a lack of power, detonation (spark knock), and/or a hesitation/surge on acceleration.
