Question about 1989 Dodge Raider
We just discovered that the timing belt broke on our Raider. My main
question is if there is a way to tell if this engine is an
"interference" engine before we begin the repair process. Any ideas?
Replace the belt and take a compression test, unless you want to pull the valve covers and ck for bent valves. The dealer may be able to tell you more . At this point it makes no difference. If it's O interference you lucked out. If not, you hsve to fix it anyway. If it's a belt it more than likely o interference. Belt breakage is anticipated in design.
