Mazda mpv problem

2002 mazda mpv, the problem is while the car is idioling it jumps and shutters but while the car i driving it is ok? i have had someone tell me that it could be the coil's, is this possible? Real rough idle and okay when driving , just replaced the throttle position sensor (for the 4th time in 4 years) ...Had the coils changed three years ago too --- why does this piece of **** keep doing this and how do I fix it!!!!????

Just did the tune up stuff too -- the tps sensors were done in different places. The first one was at a mazda dealer in KY, and the other 3 where done at home and the part was bought in 3 different places. The brakes dont feel any different than they usually do. The codes that came up before we replaced the tps this time were the o2 sensor and the tps sensor. Then when i brought it back to have the codes cleared and checked again it showed nothing but the problem is still there.

First, the engine light is on and a mechanic told me that the code is P2404 evaporation sensor and the tbs tech service bulletin has to reflash. The other problem is like the one prior to mine. When I'm stopped at a red light or a stop sign and the car is idling it feels like a bucking bronco. The mechanic said it is the alternator, but from these symptoms I find it hard to believe. He also said it would be $600+, and I don't have that money sitting around. At the end of June I took out an extended warranty. They are saying that I have a waiting period of 1,000miles and 30days. I've met the 30 days, but am 350miles of 1000. What can I do?

My vehicle does the same thing when in idle - but I notice it "tugs" when driving under load. (I am assuming that most of the time it's not running on all 6 cyclinders and the tugging is the failed one kicking in albeit briefly. I've had a new set of plugs and the leads have been replaced but this had made no difference. The coil packs have also been tested but were pronounced fine so not changed. So far it's cost me a fortune and i'm still no where nearer knowing what's wrong with the vehicle.

I had this same issue and had to replace the PCV hose. Once it was replaced it ran like a top.

Always check this first. If you listen with the hood open and engine running you should hear a hiss. CAUTION: Do not put your hands or body anywhere near the engine compartment while engine is running. The dealer was actually surprised that I founf it, but sold me the hose.

I would need more info to make an accurate diagnosis, but when was the last time you did a regular old tune up? plugs and wires? Probably safe to assume that you have done those, so i would say have your mechanic check for a vacume leak. Are your breaks squishy at idle? Also, if you have had to do 4 tps sensors in 4 years, and it is all from the same mechanic, you may want to find a new mechanic.

I have a 2MPV and had the same prob. I had the coils done and ddidn't help. Finally decided to take matters into my own hands. Ended up being the hose from the pcv valve. Did some research I guess there was actually a recall on those hoses. Also if you go and try to find a new hose at a parts store its a ford par. Ever time iI went to a parts store they couldn't find it thru Mazda parts

Hello, our 2003 MPV has been in the shop three times for coil replacement. In fact, we are getting the rest of them replaced as we speak. It was having the same exact symptoms. When you are at a stop light, it smells real rich also, right? Get a diagnostic done, but I can almost guarantee it's your coils or one of the hoses collapsing in on itself. (I'm just a stay at home Mom, so I can't offer a professional opinion) Hope this helps!

The transmission is slipping, have it checked for low fluid level, if that is ok then you need the transmission rebuilt or replaced with a factory rebuilt exchange unit.

I was browsing unsolved problems. If you still have the problem, I'll try to help you. But it's going to be awhile trying to communicate back and forth. First...Check the engine for spark. Take off a plug wire and stick a screw driver in the wire end and place the metal part of the screw driver next to something on the van that's metal. Have someone crank it over for just a second or two and see if a small spark jumps from the screw driver to the metal part. I'll check back for your answer.

Car jumping when brake is applied

I'm pretty sure that your front rotors are warped. Is tis problem only happening when you apply the brakes? If it is, replace the front pads and get new rotors. Be sure when you install the front tires back on, torque the wheels to 90 lbs.

REPAIR MANUAL NEEDED!!!!

The 2002, 2003 and 2004 Mazda MPV's all use the same Ford 6 cyl. 3.0 duratec engine. The Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute of those years use the same engine. Therefore if you need an inexpensive engine repair manuel for your 2002 MPV, get the Haynes ($20.00) 2001-2007 Escape/Tribute manuel. Mazda sells the a MPV shop manuel for $180.00. I also own a 2002 Mazda MPV LX. 75k miles.
