My Bravada started out doing this, and now the temperature rarely gets up to 50 degrees, and when it drops down, the air conditioner comperssor will not kick on. When the outside temperature goes above 50, the air conditioner functions properly.

Outside temperature reading on my 2009 Chevy Silverado truck is always 4-8 degrees lower than the actual outside temperature.

the outside temperature sensor on vehicles takes the temperature of the air about 2-3 inches off the ground, that close to the ground it might be a couple degrees colder than the temperature on the thermometer you have mounted in the window of your house.

You will find the ambient temperature sensor behind the grille and in front of the condensor. The grille will have to be removed to replace the sensor.
