Re: fuel pump "mount" inside gas tank of Saab 900SE V6
To replace the fuel pump from above, without dropping the tank, you must cut your own access hole. Here is a complete illustrated tutorial for the procedure, including replacement of the pump insert itself.

In the tank. On some, like the 97 900se, the hole and cover in the trunk for accessing the pump do not line up with the hole and float/pump assembly unit in the tank itself and the tank has to be dropped to get to it. A bit of a design oversight there...
I will assume your car has gas in it....check your the relays in the engine compartment....make sure they are snug and none look burnt. Check your fuses inside the car. If fuses look good and you have gas in your car check your fuel pump....you can do this by turning your key to the on position, without starting the car and listen for a humming/whirring noise from the fuel pump....make sure everything is off like radio, a/c, etc...so you can hear....it helps if you remove the gas cap and have someone turn the ignition on while you listen stand near the gas tank and listen. If you hear the fuel pump kicking on then check your fuel filter....when was it last replaced? Hope this helps...good luck!
this is to clear the idea, your fuel pump is located at inside you fuel tank.this is not easy job for replacement, have a precaution doing this there fuel inside your tank if you wanna do this or fix your self, you have to remove electical source by pulling out first the one pole or terminal of your battery.to prevent in any spark, using syphon pump, you can empty your fuel tank evacuate all fuel inside your tank before pulling out your fuel pump.figure showing fuel pump/
