My problem was not the belt retractor; plenty of solutions posted for that. My problem is the clasp that will not engage or the engaged clasp that will not release. I had some success with using a pick or hook to remove pieces of plastic grocery bag that had gotten pushed into the clasp mechanism when engaging the belt. Also a dry lubricant that does not weaken the webbing might restore functioning of the clasp..

Usually they are not reparable. More than likely a spring has broken. But on more than one occasion I have actually found some denomination coin in the 'buckle'. And once removed, it operated okay. If you go to replace it, it is described as a buckle.

How to fix a stuck seat belt?

Depends where it is stuck?

Stuck in? Get behind it and check the spring loaded drum.

Stuck out? Pull it all the way and feed it back in.

Stuck in the clasp? Slide off the cover and take the catch apart.

2011 subaru forester front passenger seat belt is locked too tightly and will not release, how do I fix?

The reason is the belt mechanism is damaged and the belt needs to be replaced. What happens is the gears lock this usually only happens when the vehicle is in a collision or has a major and hard stop

Four bolts under seat. May have to slide the seat forward or back to get at the bolts. Usually 15mm bolt head.

How to remove a back seat from 02 toyota avensis

Hi, peel the cover from around the seat frame so that the shoulder strap hold the cover on to the seat.

Extend the set belts to their maximum length and recline the seat as far as possible.

Looking at the seat from the front, put your hand in the gap between the reat of the seat (bit that reclines) and the fromt of the fixed base (by the red dome and the instructions).

On the bit of the seat that reclines there is a 'door' that opens to reveal a metal clasp that the ends of the shoulder straps fix to at the top and the ****** belt at the bottom.

Unhook the looks from the shoulder straps from the metal clasp.

Pull the shoulder straps through the back of the seat upright. You can now pull them through the cover which is free for you to wash.

Thank you.

2003 ford escape seat belt warnign light

Probably no need to see an expensive mechanic. My seat belt warning light came on a few days ago when there were four people in the car and the rear seat belts weren't fastened (I thought that was why it lit up). However, the light came on and stayed on when I was the only person in the car. Logically, it suggested a bad connection somewhere, so I checked the connector under the passenger seat and made sure it was properly fastened together. I then sprayed a small amount of WD40 into the female clasps of both front seat belt connectors, clipped and unclipped the belts a few times and the light is now fine. Try it - it worked for my 2003 Escape.

The air bag light is on. i try to reset it with

OBDII doesn't reset airbag lights or codes. It's an entirely different system. Unfortunately, fixing the original problem (seat belt buckle wire, for instance) won't turn off the light. The module needs to be reset.

Seat belt will not buckle up

Spray WD-40 into the clasp side. If it doesn't fix it replace it. You can't trust it.
