When the car was new it did have a chipped key. I don't know why they start sometimes without them, Faulty security? Anyway you will have to get a chipped key from the dealer or a hardware store. then do the relearn procedure. The procedure is , turn the ignition on for ten minutes, turn it off for five seconds, do this three times and after the third time the car should start. Make sure to keep the battery charged up because this will drain the battery. If it drains below 5 volts , you will have to start over.

Can i by pass the ignition switch on a 2002 cavalier

You really need to have the lock cylinder changed, but you will need to have the new lock cylinder re-pinned to the original key for the VATSS system to register the key and allow the vehicle to start.

2004 pontiac grand prix installed new key switch pass key 3 error theft system not programmed

If you have the 'chip' key it HAS to have the correct resistance or it will not work. This is programmed into the ECM and will shut the car down if the resistance does not match. If you have an OHM meter, check across your old key at the chip and write down the ohms of resistance. Then do the same with the new key. If they are not the same OHMs the new key won't work unless you have the computer re-learned at a dealer. Most locksmith's and garages can install a temporary fix by installing a resistor of the correct ohms between the wires of the theft system under the dash (two small white wires coming from switch)

2000 cavalier wont start because of antitheft

If the engine will. not crank and the security light is on, the module is not recognizing the chip in the key.
The three possible issues are the sensor in the lock which you say you have replaced, the chip in the key, or the module behind the dash.
You can try a spare key or have a new key made and cross that off the list. That would leave the module in the car.

Got a 2002 cavalier, lost the original key, had keyless entry not from the factory, anyways, key goes in and turns, lights, everything works but wont start, is this a chip computer problem. What do I...

It could be a chip computer problem. The new key is cut right, but the chip is not coded into the computer. Must go to dealer to have this procedure done.

How come on a 2002 GMC Denali if you lock your key inside

i would say the theft module saw the door trying to be open without the door lock or fob first, once the door lock button was pushed it shut down, it new doors were trying to be unlocked in a theft manner, once shut down it needs time to reset or needs to see ignition cycle with key and read chip in key, smart system isnt it, good luck.
