Question about 2007 BMW X5 3.0si SAV

1 Answer

4 month old 2008 x5 with 4,000 miles .Are away on vacation 500 miles from home. Car sat out in the rain and heavy fog overight. This morning I started the car,put it in drive and started to move when the car suddenly went into park and the screen read"Before leaving the vehicle secure it against rolling" and the screen showed a picture of a car with arrows pointing out from the front and rear of the car. The car also shifted into park when I put it into reverse. Over the next half hour the car kept shifting into park. I have called BMW Assist & they are sending a tow in the morning. The nearest BMW dealer is 250 miles away. Now three hours later I started up the car and the car seems fine....no shifting into park on its own. Should I call off the tow truck off ??

How often should i change my oil in my 2008 Lincoln Navigator?

The people that make replacement engines say 6000 to 7500 miles. I never let any vehicle go over 4500 and usually 4000. There is a time thing too, 4 months to 6 months.

If you drive 3000 miles in a 2 week vacation its different than 3000 in 4 months of stop and go driving. I have owned over 55 vehicles, mostly used and have never had any engine failure and regularly put 100,000 miles of my own miles on used vehicles.
I use Valvoline, GTW, and sometimes Havoline.

Oil change light coming on

The Patroit uses a combination of engine run time, mileage, and temp to determine when the oils needs to be changed. If you do a lot of idling you could require a change sooner than the 6000 mile interval. If you do get your oil cahnged or do it by yourself, here is the way to reset the oil warning from the owners manual:
