Question about 1998 Dodge Caravan
Transmisson stopped pulling, van sat for 6 month's , we saved enough money to have it fixed., towed it to the trans shop. motor wouldn't run from dead batt charged batt, now wouldn't run because computer needs to be programmed! .trans shop can't diagnose trans unless motor running.,Towed van to small dodge dealer they tricked out computer to run, towed van back to trans shop, after rebuilding trans -battery is dead ,charged batt computer flash'es codes but won't start replaced batt still won't start . tech. came from dodge dealer could not trick out computer this time says over his head. I called larger dodge dealer, suggested towing van to there shop for full scan. my question to him: has dodge came up with a solution to this battery loss -computer problem? He was not aware of any.that i would have to live with this for a" 98" model . I can't help but to believe that someone has solved this problem or at least know how to save the programming when you lose batt power I'd like to know before I tow again to another shop? THANKS very fustrated ERIC
The computer does not lose programs after power lose. check the ground cables or the asd relay. and get a new mechanic
