Voltage is the power supply. you always run atleast a 10/12 ga wire to positive side of battery. also remember that will also need a ground. keep the color code for positve voltage to either red or yellow for positive and black or white for ground.

Don't assume your battery is fine. Just because it measures 12-13 volts doesn't make it fine. You need to test it under load and see if it holds 12-13 volts under load. If you don't have the instruments to do that, try jump starting the car with cables connected to another running car. If it starts normally, your battery is bad. If it continues to "click", you have a dirty connection in the battery wire circuit. Remove, clean, and replace the terminal connections.

Horn cigarette lighter use same fuse replaced fuse but neither work

Did you also check the BATT1 fuse in the engine compartment fuse relay center? You should have 12 volts through the BATT 1 fuse, the red wire connected to one end of the CIG FUSE, and the orange wire from the other end of that fuse to the cigarette lighter. If you lose 12 volts along that path, check for broken or burned wires.

How to wire ammeter guage in 1988 GMC C1500

Most people use a volt meter instead of amp. The problem with trying to hook up an amp meter is you need to run all of the electrical components thru the gauge and they are not heavy duty enough to carry the demand. A volt meter can be connected to any battery source such as the cig lighter.

Cig socket has no power fuses are ok

Use a volt meter or a test light to test voltage. Connect negative lead of meter of test light to ground and connect the positive lead to the center of cig socket. I no voltage is detected at cig socket trace wire to fuse panel and connect postive lead of test light or volt meter to positive side wiring at fuse panel.

My cig litter and 12 v out puts dont work i think the fuse is out but i dont have a digram to tell mr witch one it is

Gonna do my best to explain which fuse is for your cig lighter. It's the #41 fuse. If you are looking in the fuse panel, it is on the bottom row, 13th one over from the left. It is the one that is sideways. There are 2 that are sideways in that row. The first one on the left and the one you may be looking for. It is a 20 amp fuse. I hope this helped and good luck.

Can I run a nine volt battery in the cig lighter socket to hold the radio code when I disconnect the battery?

sometimes that works, sometimes not. check the lighter if theres power with the key off, or if your cell phone charges with the key off. If not, its not going to keep the memory. I would take 2 jumper wires and connect the new battery to the cables, so that the car never loses power. or take jumper cables from another car and connect to the battery terminals.

Need to replace battery, haynes book says to keep car powered to keep ECm settings. will the 9-volt battery to cig lighter work, or do i need a 12 volt line.

NEVER HEARD OF THIS BUT IF YOU NEED TO KEEP PEWER TO THE EMC USE A SET OF JUMPER CABLES AND HOOK TO THE BATTERY TERMINALS . KEEP THE JUMPERS ON THE CABLES WHILE YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY. THIS SHOULD DO THE TRICK

Please help me with power in cig lighter

Hi, grab a voltmeter and test volts at car lighter connector, near to car lighter socket, if there is volts in there (uncommon) , then check for short or broken contact on car lighter socket, or replace the first socket connected in line.

If there is no voltage getting to cig lighter, check the two connections at the back of the fuse box, on the cigarette lighter fuse.

If there is volts only on one side, then fuse is gone again, in that case there is a short on wiring, maybe on one of lighters, locate it and fix it.

If there is power on both sides of the fuse, then fix or replace wiring between fuse box and cigarette lighter, one wire is broken.

If there is no power on both sides of lighter fuse, then fix the wiring between fuse box cig. lighter contact and battery, if this is too complicate you can even build a new wiring and solder in place of the old one.

If the lighters have more than one fuse, do the same job for both lighter. Cig. lighters do not use a relay, and there is no additional fuse, the above procedure is enough to fix any possible problem on such a simple device.

If you have no practice with this kind of repair on car electrical system, then better to go to a car electrician or mechanic rather then messing up the car electric system.

Please do not forget to leave us feedback afterward, that is important for us.

Many thanks.

Litter wouldn't work

12 volts - run the wire from the battery, and put a fuse inline between battery and lighter.
