Question about 2000 Mazda Protege

1 Answer

O/D light flashing

While I was heading home from work the "o/d off" light started flashing, felt like the trans was running in a lower gear and the fan in front of the trans wouldn't shut off.

Intermittent flashing of O/D light. Then the check engine light came on and stayed on. Took it to Mazda and they said it is the valve body (part of the transmission) and wanted $1600 to fix it. I took it to AAmco and they are fixing it for about $500 less than the dealership.

was driving my 2000 mazda protege, then all of a sudden O/D light started flashing, check engine light came on and it felt like the car was in a lower gear because it taking a lot of RPMs to slightly excelerate. i turned the car off for a few minutes and it was okay after that. it did it again today then went away again... what is going on?!

My O/D light began flashing about 2 weeks ago on the freeway. Tranny would not go into O/D, only 3rd gear. Also, it is _very_ sluggish accelerating from rest position and shifts hard from neutral to drive (loud thunk). The problem is intermittent; when the engine is restarted the light does not flash and the tranny works OK. Incidentally, my Check Engine light has been on intermittently since last August. I had the Throttle Position Sensor changed but the problem remains; had the transmission fluid changed a few weeks ago. After spending CAD $700 I'm reluctant to throw money at it. Seems like it's NOT the TPS fault but something else electrical. Any advice appreciated.

Engine kicked out on the 401 and I looked at my dash and the Check engine light came on and the O/D light starting flashing. I pulled my 2001 mazda protege off to the side of the road. Turned it off for about 2 minutes than turned it on. Check engine light is still on but the O/D drive light is off. Happened twice now. Just had a new transmission put in last august. Only 135 000 kms on the car.

Seems like the fluid in your automatic transmission may be low. take a look at the dipstick and top off if necessary.

What are you working on? Many GM transmissions have a 1-2 shift solenoid prone to failure. Remove trans oil pan and you may see solenoid coming apart.

2004 ford f250 superduty 6.0L dsl tow haul light flashing and doesnt want to go into reverse

That light means that the shift points have changed on the transmission. This is to get better economy when hauling. If it wont stop flashing then there is a valve in the transmission that is bad or sticking. You will have to have it removed and overhauled..

I have a 93 isuzu rodeo 4x4 3.2L..on my way to work this mornin the tranny started to act up it kept shifting itself up and down between 2nd and 3rd gear like.. i flashed the ecm when i got home and got...

Isuzu had a problem with the altenator spiking and frying the trans. It would get stuck between gears and it would slip thur gears. The regulator goes bad and needs to be replaced. A local dealer sells the regulator. This was more of a problem in 95's but possible with 93.

Tranmission problem on 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

When the trans. sticks itself in 2nd gear and stays there is because it's detecting a trans. problem and puts itself in "limp in" mode. When it happens again, to somewhere to have a scan done on the trans. so you can find out which sensor on the trans. is acting up.
