Continuous Blown Fuse

The fuse for the dashboard and my rear running lights on my 2004 Nissan Xterra keeps on blowing. I have replaced it 3 times already and every time I replace it the lights come on for about 2 minutes and go out. My mechanic says that there is a short soemwhere but can't find it.

HELP!!

We have the same problem, but they only short out sometimes. Going over bumps or rough road. Front lights and turn signals work. Dash board and running lights go out and blow a fuse. We have a Dadge Ram.

You have a short circuit, the problem is most technicians don't want to deal with this type of issue, look under the car near the tail lights, that is where the wiring damage will be.

You have a short. With these Xterras it is most likely from one of the front side markers rubbing the bumper support. Is the front bumper pushed in or damaged in anyway if so check the wiring to these lamps. Hope this helps.

So, my tail light on nissan maxima 2004 were out, the fuse was blown so I replaced it. Tail light work but dashboard lights are out when lights are on, in all positions, switch them off and dashboard lights...

dashboard lights are brighter when lights are off so you can see stuff in the daylight-check and make sure you have the correct bulb and its plugged in correctly-something is confusing the cpu-a blown fuse usually means something is shorted out-check for cut or bare wires around your tailamps-cheers Denny

Trailer turn signals work. but markers lights do not?

there are fuses for all lights in your truck. those fuses sre located in the IPDM box, whiich is the box by the battery. there is a black cover about 6inches by 7inches. under that lid is the IPDM where you need to look and fine the fuse that is blown. start there. if the fuse is blown, replace it and recheck your rear plug for power at appropriate pins. if you have power everywhere at the connector and then you plug your trailer to it and the same fuse blows again, then i would be looking at the trailer harness for short causing the fuse to blow.

My radio, rear driving lights, dashboard, and tag lights are inoperable. after looking at manual I could not find any fuses designated for any of these areas to start lookin.

The fuse is located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Turn the fuse box cover lid over and you will find a diagram. Replace the instrument cluster fuse and taillight/stoplamp fuse. Also make sure your dimmer switch is turned all the way to "high" Check each fuse with a multimeter and replace any burned out fuses with brand new ones.

I have a 2003 nissan xterra. The fuse keeps blowing for the tail lights, dashboard lights. I cannot find any wiring problems. the lights are difficult if not impossible to get to. Any ideas?

If you have the money you should take your car to the mechanic as soon as possible and have them check the wiring behind and under your head lights. Or have them check your main electrical harness that contains your fuse box. the main bulk of wires runs on the right side of the engine by your head light. I had the exact same problem in my 03 x-terra. By the time I took my car in (about 3 months after intial problem stared) my entire electrical harness was burnt up and melted. I am looking at a bill $1600-$2000 to fix the problem. I can't drive my car cause it could catch on fire. please look at that very soon. I couldn't find the problem either till I took it in.

Running Lights, Rear Lights and Dash Lights not working

Running lights in front sides of vehicle short out in time. I simply disconnected the plugs found inside the front wheel wells and packed them with grease for time being. When the weather improves I will find the chaffed insulation and repair. Replaced the 15amp fuse found under the hood and shwing, back on the road.
