Re: 1993 buick skylark serpentine belt removal
There is going to be a tensioner pulley near the front of the motor on top that you have to apply pressure to or you can loosen the alternator and take it off that way, just remember how it came off so you can put it back on

you're on the right track, removing the serpentine belt and manually rotating/ spinning the pulleys listening for a dragging, or grinding. If its very bad you may even see a outward movement. hope this helps!

Try downloading the Owner's Manuel online for free. My Buick owners manual has really detailed info on how to put the serpentine belt back on. There are several websites where you can read and or download the owners manual.... Hope this helps!
Nothing has to be removed. Just relieve the tension on the belt and it will come off. Find the tensioner pulley and pry it back. Look for a square hold where you insert a 1/2" ratchet. If you find none look for a way to pry it back. All you have to do is relieve the tension.
Here's a link to a web site to give you a diagram for your serpentine. Just insert the year, make, model, and engine size. Once there, you will see to the left a link below the part number called "Routing diagram". Best of luck on your repair. Greg
Your vehicle has an automatic belt tensioner. It should be located near the other pullies because the belt runs over it too. Usually required is a ratchet or box end wrench to work it. Once you get the wrench on the pulley, pull the tensioner loose to remove the belt and the reverse to replace it. The vehicle should have a routing diagram for the belt. I believe the belt diagram is on the left corner on the passenger side. Good luck and hope this helps
3.1? there are 5 bolts. 2.3,4 there are 3 water pump to the timing chain housing nuts, then 5 water pump bolts. 3.3 after removing belt idler pulley must be removed. the water pump pulley bolts. and the pump mounting bolts. Figure out which engine you have first. hope this helps, rick
