Both engines .. the four and the six have timing chains.. not belts.. so there is no replacement for the life of the engine.

Some of the six cylinder models did have problems with a Timing Chain tensioner.. if you have the six and it makes a rattling sound when first started..that could be an indicator. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on this and it should identify which cars are affected.

Best of luck!

When do you have to change the timing belt in a1998 hyundai sonata

Ideally it will be good to replace the timing belts before the car clocks 90000kms. The schedules for all the services are detailed in the manual but it will always be good not to delay . Good day

At what mileage do you change a timing belt in a 2007 sonata, 99% of mileage is highway.

Most car manufacturers recommend replacing timing belts after 60,000 miles. I have seen cars go 200,000 on a timing belt. But I wouldn't recommend that. Personally, that Max I would go, even if 99% of your driving is highway, is 80,000 miles. I'm not 100% sure about the sonata, but if it is front wheel drive and your replacing the timing belt, think about replacing the water pump at the same time. That is always good practice to remember.
