Drove the car to the store and it was fine, came home, my son started checking fuses and then went to start the car and it wouldnt start......we replaced the gas filter and the battery.....checked all the fuses and they are all fine....we can not locate the fuel pump relay to check it. I am assuming this has to be electrical since the car was running fine before he messed witht he fuses, he says all he did was check them and put them back......car will crank but wont turn over it is a 1998 200sx.....suggestions?

Was he checking fuses for something that was already a problem? Only checked fuses in dash fuse panel or the the main fuse blocks under the hood?
When you turn the ignition key to the ON position can you hear the fuel pump for a few second as it builds pressure?

jesdallas the car is getting fuel we replaced the gas filter and it was getting plenty of fuel but it seems that it isnt getting to the injectors......maybe the relay? or maybe the fuel pressure regulator? the reason im not really thinking the fuel pump itself is because it was running fine and for it to go out right when i pulled intot he driveway and after he checked the fuses seems unlikely......he was checking the fuses b ecause the guy at the auto zone told him to because the check engine light was on...any suggestions? and do you have ANY idea where the fuel pump relay is? we can not find it....every diagram i have found has turned out to be wrong and all the nissan dealers can tell me is that its under the dash "somewhere"....thanks

As the problem started when your son had a look at the fuses, I'd suggest you check them yourself. Make sure they're good and in the correct slots.

okay we bought a fuse tester and tested every fuse and they are all fine the right amps and int he right places.......we are looking for the fuel pump relay and can not find it anywhere one thread said it was behind the vent on the left side of the sterring wheel so we took partof the dash apart and it isnt there another thread said it was right near the steering column and we cant find it there either.....local auto parts store said it was under the hood and it is not.......is it just a black fuse or does it have wires coming out of it and WHERE could it possible be hiding? HHHEEELLLPPP!!!!!!

    Just found this for a

Relay is located in the Fuse /Relay box on the right wheelwell just next to the battery. It is labeled "egi pump". EGI apperently stands for "you'll never figure out what this means", since it isn't referenced anywhere.

Check that the fuel pump is running there's an inertia switch in the car that a bump could set it off

2002 windstar wouldnt start jumped and started. then no start

Hi, chances are you have at least one bad battery cable. Check them with an ohm meter. If you have any resistance in your reading, say above 0.02 change your cable. Hope that helps.

2002 ford windstar first wouldnt start, jumped and started, drove 200 miles and turn

You need to have the factory security system scanned, it is most likely locking you out due to a fault.

1996 Saturn sl1 was starting on a dime and now wont start

Hi Jennifer, I believe that it purely coincidence that this problem started when your dad drove the car. There is basically nothing he could have done to promote the problem. I believe the fault has something to do with the anti theft device becoming active. If you can manage to have the car diagnostically scanned and the key encodement re activated I'm thinking that will sort out the problem. Even if that is not the problem the diagnostic scan will pin point where the problem is. Regards John

Why is my volt light flashing off and on?

Your alternator is bad. When the car drove home fine it was running off the battery and not the alternator. Replace the alternator, and the belt too while you're at it.

Went to start all lights were fine wouldnt start. jumped it and started imediatly. drove over an hour shut it off and wouldnt restart. lights are dim, i hear a click then the lights get brite. but wont...

This sounds like a bad battery, take the car to your local auto parts store. Have them check the battery. If there is some other problem they can trouble shoot the charging / starting system also.
