Sounds like the brake light switch has gone out.
On the interior of the car, just at the top of the brake pedal, you'll find a little contact switch. You can test if it's good or bad, by jumping across the leads that go to it.

This is a basic part you can find at most local auto parts stores.

Have you checked the fuse? if that is not the case make sure that one isnt burnt out?

best bet is to take a voltmeter and check the socket of the driver side tail light when the pedal is pushed to see if it gets current if not. Check all fuses and the continuity of the wire from the fuse box to the light.

thanks,
Nate

Rear brake lights not working cab light works when depressing brakes. bulbs and fuses check out

There is a push button switch that sits behind metal bar that holds your brake pedal. This switch is what turns on the brake light when you push on the brakes. Check to make sure that when the brake pedal is pushed that there is a short across this switch. If there isn't then the switch is bad.

What causes the break light swich to push, ive took apart the swich and can push it and break lights worked but when i put swich back on with clip it dose not work when i hit the break peddel

nothing, It doesn't work like that, when your brake switch is mounted , correctly , your pedal has a bracket on it that pushes the switch plunger in so brake lights are off. when you push brake pedal in, to stop vehicle, the switch plunger (spring loaded) comes out to turn brake lights ON ! get it ? when you release pedal it pushes plunger in, to turn lights OFF !

Brake light stays on

the switch for your brake lights is located near your brake pedal,it is usually a spring loaded switch that comes out when the pedal is pushed & the pedal pushes it back in when it is released, this switch may have come loose & is active all the time, you need to make sure that it is pushed hard up against the brake pedal & tighten the adjusting screws to lock it in position, check that your stop lights come on when the brake pedal is pushed in....hope this helps....cheers

No brake lights when i push the pedal

Its the signal light switch on the lever.
THe signal switch has all connections relating to the brake lights!
solution play around with the lever and see or get someone to see the brake lights work with the brake pedal down.
My car does the same thing! when i move the lever towards activaiting the high beams the brake lights work.
just gently push on the lever to see the lights go on.
you have to replace the switch and requires removing the steering wheel without setting off the airbag.
