Carefully pop the cover off around the handle to access the metal rods. pull them together to open the gate.

The panel has pressure tabs on the top and static tabs on the bottom. To remove it, push down on the top of the plastic panel, once the top is out, lift up on the bottom. Thanks for the solution, i just picked up a new clip at Kragens, cost was 4.99, on the shelf, receipt lists it as Lock Linkage Clip, good for Chrysler and GM.

There is a panel on tailgate, remove it and makes sure the long steel rods (2) are connected to both the handle and the latches

Systematically cut it out with a sawzall reciprocating saw.

Cut the post that the latch attaches to when closed, if you can get at it with the blade.

Then, replace the post.

May need a long prybar to open if, simply stuck, while operating the opening button or lever.

Good luck with this replacement of the tail gate.

The rear glass on my 2000 chevy blazer won't release to open it what can i do to solve the problem?

there's a plastic actuator inside the tailgate that probably broke or at least came loose. You have to crawl into the back and release it. I ended up having to cut a little piece of carpet in the middle on the top of the tailgate area. Right where it fastens. You can manually release the glass with a screwdriver at that point. To replace the actuator, you need to take off the entire tailgate trim and metal underneath that to get to it. It sounds like a pain but trust me, not having the back glass be able to open or the tailgate area is much worse. It takes about 45 minutes to fix. The actuators are less than $10
