2002 Lexus SC430. Convertible top wollnt go down. We dismantelled roof to repaint the top. Since we reinstalled the roof we cant get it to go down. The red light goes on, on the switch, but thats as far as we go. No movement at all. Checked fuses and motor connections. We think its something simple but dont know what.

most cars IT is deep in the IP cluster
only the SM service manual shows this.

DATA FACT TO THE CLUSTER, (ON THE MX DATA NETWORK AND THE CLUSTER CHIMES.
if the chime is bad say so? we can not guess goals.

could very well do as it sounds like their is a possible power loss somewhere ,it might not be but their is a possibility like a fuse or power supply cable has become trapped and broke .

Check to see that the safety cover in the trunk is properly aligned in the brackets. It must depress a switch on either side of the trunk for the roof to close.

remove the chrome collar on the top VERY carefully with a flat head screwdriver, then go inside the car and turn the radio on. make sure you have someone there to catch it! something else important to know is if all of the antenna doesn't come out, as in there are some broken pieces left inside, you'll have to remove the motor, disassemble it, clean it out, and reinstall it.

in your trunk have a key to close the roof manually, remove the roof light, or look for intructions in owners manual
