Assuming the engine is in sound running condition, if the engine is not turning over at all when you hit the starter then the problem is with the starter motor or the starter motor solenoid. That is assuming there is no problem with the power supply to the starter motor unit such as a failed starter motor relay or a wiring issue.
Make sure the battery cables are clean and tight on the battery. Check to see if the wires to the starter are tight. Try starting it in neutral to make sure the safety switch is being make. Also hold it up into park and try.
Any chance your vehicles have a security/alarm system. Disconnecting battery on some, will arm it sometimes & not allow it to run. Using key to unlock door, on driver & passenger side have been known to work on some vehicles, but if not, a call to dealer should help.
When the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM), that is the core of the VATS system, cease to function, the security light could also stay off because it's the TDM itself that manage it.
In my case that's what happened, the faulty TDM was recognizing the key, turning off the security light, activating the starter relay, but was not sending the fuel enable signal to the PCM.

I just posted my experience in another place on this site but on my 1992 PA the accessories relay stuck closed. This relay is the one that allows you to listen to the radio etc and keep things on until you open the door then all shuts off. When it is stuck closed accessories keep running until your battery drains dead. The relay was replaced and all worked great.
