i think this may be a vacuum problem, mine didnt do this until i put on a performance intake, where as, the increased airflow on the throttlebody(since the vacuum hoses are on the wrong side of the throttle butterfly) would cause a drop in vacuum, causing the vents to no hold when they should. if anyone knows how to solve this factory default, please help

Actually my dakota has the same issue. it seems like where the ac is blowing from is dependent on how much throttle i give it. no clue why, but when i step on the gas the ac starts blowing from the floor...when i let off it comes back out of the top vents...weird.

The AC venting is crossed. If ,at one point, you had this serviced they may have taken the vent hoses off the clean them and re-connected them wrong.
Most maintainance of AC
's recommend hoses be flushed out and backflushed to keep them working proper. Or the system was changed from freon to an alternate R chemicle.

1998 dodge ram 1500 5.2l, a/c air blows out floor

You most likely have a vaccum supply issue to your A/C control panel/unit. Your dodge has a vaccum actuated mode door and under low vaccum situations (hard acceleration) the mode door will revert to its at rest position (floor vents)...

Follow the small plastic vaccum line coming out of your A/C unit under your hood, it will eventually end up at a source of vaccum, either the throttle body or intake manifold. Somewhere in between you will find your leak. Good luck!!!

When I excelerate my ventilation panel inside the cab starts blowing air out of the floor vent instead of blowing out of the front panel.

there is a vacuum can under the hood and if that is not hooked up or has a leak there is no vacuum reserve for the vent control valves so they go bad to a fail safe position

Air only blows out on windshield & floor when

THERE IS A VACUUM LINE THAT GOES FROM THE LEFT FRONT OF THE ENGINE TO THE VACUUM CHECK VALVE NEAR THE ACCUMULATOR. IF THAT LINE IS BROKEN THE PROBLEM YOU HAVE IS NO HVAC MODE SWITCHING.
