Car generally goes very well, done 280000km. Have had the air-mass sensor replaced, as well as the wiring harness about 1 year ago. Recently, at all temperatures, and all RPM, it feels like one cylinder, or sometimes two or three at a time, suddenly stop working. The effect is that there is a sudden loss of power for between 0.5sec to 10 sec. The power loss is not complete, as if the car is switched off, it is rather a sharp reduction of power. Garage has replaced throttle body with no change to symptoms. After months of trying to isolate the conditions, the only common condition is that it appears to happen under load. I have tried leaded and unleaded fuel, also to no avail. My mechanic is out of ideas :(

can be lots of causes.
check fuses first
then scan it next. ever consider scanning it?/?????

filters clean?
dash error lights glowing? ignored/?

Suzuki swift used to tick over at 800 revs, now ticking over between 600 and 800 revs, engine shudders a bit

which engine, what year.?
egr struck open , partially is #1 cause of low idle
and never getting a tuneup.

the ECU, does all it can to hold 800, hot, all day,no matter what.
but
will fail if:
1: not tuned up, called misfire. (shudders is misfire)
2: too lean (low fuel pressure.)
3: leaking injectors, more misfire. (or clogged)
4: egr stuck open a tad, or stalls if open fully.
5: ISC stuck closed.

Car losing power

maybe a clogged filter.. why 2 months? it has old gas in it..gas does evaporate to a degree..looses some of its power creating capability.. the mtbe additive is an extreme evaporative.. it will evaporate out very quickly.. remember all fuel tanks have a vent tube on them..

This happened on our '95 Lumina APV early in its life. Luckily, it was still under warranty, as it took the better part of two weeks for the dealer to find out that the problem was with the fuel injector wiring harness.

2001 dodge neon is losing power on uphills and the engine light flashes when it loses power. Any thoughts?

Try changing the fuel filter. This action usually halts the problem. Good luck!

I have a 1996 BMW 320i . It has recently started losing power on hills with a slight shudder

The first thing I would look at is changing fuel filter. Then check engine compartment ALL small vac lines and air intake hose. You might also consider running a good fuel system cleaner through it.
