Check your brake light switch. Make sure your brake lights are not on. My back brake lights were staying on and I did not catch it until it was dark. Just 1 experience I have had with my 97 Stratus.

Good Luck

Pull fuses to one at a time and continuosly check battery amps until you find the amps do not drop any more. be advised this will take an hour or so to show a drop. remember the radio and clock will be pulling some amps for memory.

Start with battery. sometimes older batt. won't hold a charge overnite. disconnect battery and reconnect next day and check. if batt is ok disconnect alternator overnite and connect next day to see if it was problem.

What causes battery to drain overnight?

Almost anything electrical can drain your battery before going around removing fuses etc make sure it's not the battery itself at fault

My Passat 2006 kept draining battery overnight, after a new battery & alternater still drains new battery overnight? Can't seem to find the problem? Any idea?

You need to disconnect the battery negative lead and place an ammeter between battery and lead, note the current draw with every thing switched off, then start removing one fuse at a time from fuse box and see if ammeter drops significantly if not refit fuse and remove the next one and repeat this until you find the one that causes a significant drop, then you will have found the circuit that is draining the battery, you need to check this circuit to find cause of power draw and repair as required, let me know how you get on

Battery keeps drainging

Try disconnecting the alternator leads overnight but make sure they are kept away from the body, the big cable is always HOT. See if that does it overnight. If its OK then the alts duff. If not then get a small tester / amp meter set up and connect it between the neg post and the neg lead. This will give you some idea of the drain in amps. With the car locked as normal remove and replace the fuses to lights, door locks etc until the ammeter suddenly reads zero. Then you have an idea of which item is draining it. Door locks are an old favourite after the alternator. Alternators can back drain a batt even if they show a charge when running. Get a pal with electrical knowledge to help.

My 94 jaguar xj6 battery drains even if the car is turned off what could be causing this

I have less than fond memories of tracing electrical troubles in a Jaguar (though much older than yours). Here's the basic process you need to follow:
1. Pull all the fuses. Does the battery drain overnight?
If yes, then a circuit that is not fuse protected is the problem. Start with starter/solenoid, etc. Disconnect each thing and test with meter.
2. If battery drain stops, then use meter to check current drain on each fuse. One will have more than a trickle.
3. Once you find which system is draining, you can narrow it down further by disconnecting each thing on that circuit.

Yeah, It's a pain, and may take days, but you can find it.

Batteries have a service life of 2-5 years. It seems like your battery is in need of replacement. Have it tested, or if it is more than 3 years old, just get a new one.

Battery Draining overnight

seems like you have a parasitic draw on your electrical system which means when your car is turned off there is something in your vehicle that is still on and running your battery down over night . it could be something as simple as a stuck power seat switch, but sadly alot of the likely causes are aftermarket remote start issues caused by improper installation and same goes for aftermarket radios. or it could be a wire issue were a hot wire is powering a normally off circuit..these issues are quite hard to diagnosis over the net and is best to take it to a shop! i hope this helps

I have a bmw 2001 330ci convertible which had the alternator replaced twice in a month and half.the mechanic is claiming that there is an electrical problem and he cannot figure it out and to go to the bmw...

it seems like something is draining your battery while the car sits overnight. causing the battery to get weaker and weaker putting stress on the alternator making it fail prematurely. the dealership will do a paracidic drain test where they'll find out what is draining your battery while your car sits overnight. it could be a bad module somewhere that's staying on when it shouldn't be.

Battery will drain if left connected overnight

your problem is faulty electrical, you have to trace your electrical wires for a shorted line or an electrical component is always on causing the draining of the battery.
