Question about Nissan Quest

1 Answer

Main door and window switch. I replaced the unit but there is no power to the unit. Is there a relay or a fuse? I believe I checked all the fuses. Before I purcased a new part that I had to order the unit was working on the passenger and back door locks and windows just would not put the driver side window up. A tech at Nissan tried to get my window up by putting on a unit from another type of car and it did not work. After that we plugged mine back in and it did not work either.

Turns out it was a blown fuse afterall

  • foreverlback Dec 17, 2008

Well, on my wife's car, the window on the passenger side will not go back up with either the main (driver's side switch) or the passenger side switch on her 2004 Nissan 350Z. It will make a click sound every time I try and if I bang a little on the door, it sounds like it wants to work but does not move the window at all. We do not have the manual and the fuse box does not tell you what every fuse is for so I will check again another day but thought someone might have a solution. Thanks.

at all stations?
all fuses, in both boxes. (did you read the operators guide to find them,
some cars have a circuit break (thermal) for windows,
and is located in the fuse box.
all this info is at alldata.com
ill look. ill respond , as you are a pro DIY person, can read schematics. if not , its just a guessing game.
IT IS a FUSE, not a breaker. but each motor in door has CB.
UNDER HOOD 40am Fuse #13
then fuse 23 underdash and fuse 8 same.
then the relay.same place.
and the relay is controlled by, master station (drivers)
the driver location doesnt need the relay to work.
the relay feeds power to all other window controls
so the master station is unique.
log in to alldata.com and see the pages on power windows.
here are some tid bits.
battery pull warning

Resetting the power window control unit is required after performing the following procedures: Disconnecting the battery, Removing the No. 6 (7.5 A) and/or the No. 23 (20 A) fuses from the under-dash fuse/relay box or disconnecting the driver's door wire harness.
and
window relearn/reset.
Control Unit Reset

  2. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's switch firmly down; when the window reaches the bottom, hold the driver's window switch firmly down for 2 seconds.
  3. Move the driver's window all the way up by holding the driver's switch firmly up; when the window reaches the top, hold the driver's window switch firmly up for 2 seconds.
  4. If the window does not work in AUTO, turn the ignition switch OFF and repeat the procedure.
  5. Check the window and power door lock operations

Circuit breaker

Check you fusible links and circuit breakers. Not sure how you put the alternator on but you must disconnect the battery while hooking up the alternator. If you connected it wrong or arced it against something then its possible you popped a fusible link. Use a test light and test on both sides of your fusible links. Try that and see if it helps.

My power door lock switch will not work

If none of the switches work on any of the doors, then it's a fuse/relay problem. If just one switch is the problem then check the power to the switch. Sometimes the wire harness becomes disconnected underneath the switch from slamming the doors. Hope this helps.

Both windows dont roll down,is it the fuse or window switch?

You have a power window relay located in the engine compartment in the very back right rear.
The window relay is the one in the very front on the inside. Sometimes there will be relay which are the same , only used for something else in the car. You can unplug it and try it in the place of the window relay. There is an integrated control module located inside on the driver's kick panel, it's the large box. But it relates to other circuits. Do not forget to check the fuses.OH! the power window switch. .The power, I believe is routed through the driver's door switch.

Good luck. Start with the fuses, then the relay, switch, connections. All the simple things first.

Power windows do not work. replaced the main swich. have power to swich and coming out of switch. i cant believe all 4 window motors are fryed. power door lock switchs do not work either!

this sounds like a fuse problem. In the owners manual( under fuses and relays) it will tell you which one it is. its probably a 10 or 15 amp fuse. try this first, and if not, let me know. hope this helps

Toyota Camry power windows not working from master switch

Their are two fuses that power this system. One is a 15 amp gauge fuse and the other one is a 30 amp main power fuse. You can also check the power main relay, your ignition switch, or i could possibly be a fault in the wiring
