I had a similar problem with a Dodge Caravan - On the Dodge, it's called limp mode, designed to protect the engine and tranny. If you can get the OBD-2 engine codes and look them up online you may find that the problem is elsewhere in the drivetrain. Not really an answer, but a solid suggestion of where to go from here....
It looks to me that you lost the third clutch package need to overhaul
hope it help
That because Oreillys dont sell transmission solenoid, you will need to trouble shoot the solenoids before you buy and put one in, and you have to be sure that the problem, here is how the transmission works there is a there is a brake band on the transmission that hold the drum and transfer power for the other gear to shift, if this band fails and it does you wont upshift, your transmission is basically worn and the solenoid that wont fix it, the bands is worn (there no meat on it)
SOURCE: my suburban with 4l60e wont shift out of 2nd gear.
I had same problem like your. Into 3 from 2 gear was rpm fly and gas take off for short time and it finally change 3rd then gas fine work and fine change into 4 gears. I also not want run 30 miles into town cuz worry broke down and more cost towing. Friend did bring scanner to my home and test but it show 3 gears is almost out but not tell me what I need to. They just try fix for money so I try get thur your question and with for answer.
