Tranmission wont shift

Gears inside welded together, or stuck in limp home mode. Is it stuck in a gear other than 1st or reverse? Limp home mode will select one gear, usually 2nd, when computer senses a problem with valve body pressure, or excessive heat. Either way it sounds like a trip to the ****** shop.

I have a '94 XJ6 Gold 4.0l Auto ,it was fitted with a Jaguar encrypted rolling code immobiliser in 1998 by Grange Jaguar (I have the original certificate).Yesterday I started the car as normal, ran it for...

Hi,
I would suggest that you telephone the people whom fitted the coded sensor and ask them why the car immobiliser is in silent mode and will it affect the car's "limp home " mode.

Depending on their explanation, will determine whether you have some sort of warranty obligation from Jaguar. Jaguar have improved their customer relations beyond belief to what it passed for a few years ago, and I would venture to say that they will be willing to assist you.

Good luck:)

93 plymouth voyager will not go faster than 30 mph fluid level is good

There is a problem with the transmission internally - it is in limp mode to protect it from damage - to confirm this is the problem, disconnect battery for a minute and then reconnect and drive -- should drive ok for a moment , but then go back into limp mode

Limp mode

Have u checked w/ scan tool for codes? If not, have garage, dealer, or parts store (free service at most parts stores) check for stored codes, and as u know, Chrysler is known for their c_rappy trannys,. I just had mine rebuilt at 125k (I changed the fluid and filter every 30k, but still failure). Limp mode is to protect from further damage, so something is going on. If no stored codes, drop the trans pan, check for metal in pan and on magnet, color of fluid, burnt odor? Let me know what u find. good luck

1999 voyager

this is called "limp mode" which means to "limp" home. Chryslers default to limp mode when there is a problem with a speed sensor, body control module or other sensor

scan the computer and see what it says

I sometimes remove a bettery terminal leave disconnected for a few minutes and this resets the computer and clears codes

better to scan though and clear and see if it helps
