The internal oil pump has worn through the case - poor design i was told by the transmission shop. Talk to them, they see it all the time. I just replaced mine last fall except i had to rebuild the entire transfer case after it locked up. The half case is only about $300, my rebuild was about $2000 after neglecting the problem.

Check all weep holes for clogs below the windshield, it sounds like it may be coming from the fresh air intake. During the heavy rain, it will fill up with water if the weep holes are clogged.

Could be a freeze plug on the engine block. If you have a block heater installed in one of the freeze plug holes, check it for getting too loose and leaking. Pretty common problem with a block heater that's been in there a long time.

My 1995 F250 is leaking radiator fluid under the engine behind the fan

Is antifreeze coming from "weep" hole in bottom of case under shaft nose?
is it coming from the heater hose (small hose coming of side and going into firewall to heater core inside engine compartment?
is it coming from bad gasket between pump and front case?

get a paper towel and dry these areas then start engine. when it starts leaking that will tell you if you need to change the water pump (gasket leak or weep hole shaftseal leak) or if you just need to replace/repair heater hose.

How do I change the transfer case fluid on za ford escape

Hi there,

New transfer case lubricant must be installed any time the transfer case has been submerged in water. Also, transfer case failure CAN result if the correct fill procedures are not followed.

NOTE: The transfer case is lubricated for life and is not to be checked unless a leak is suspected or a repair is necessary.
  1. Remove the drain plug and drain the transfer case.
  2. Apply sealant to the drain plug threads and install the plug.
  3. The fluid level must be even with the bottom of the filler hole with the vehicle on flat, level ground.
To Fill:
  1. Remove the fill plug and fill the transfer case with SAE 75W-140 synthetic gear lubricant.
  2. Apply sealant to the fill plug and install the plug.

How do you check the transfer case fluid level

  • Locate the fill plug in the center of the transfer case facing the rear. The fill plug is a hex head bolt.

  • Remove the fill plug and check the fluid level. Insert the short end of an L-shaped Allen wrench into the hole. Spin the Allen wrench slightly and remove it. Some fluid should be present on the tip if the unit is full.

  • Attach a screw-on hand pump to a bottle of Mopar ATF+4 type 9602 automatic transmission fluid. Insert the other end of the tubing for the hand pump into the fill plug hole on the transfer case.

  • Pump fluid into the transfer case until the fluid is flush with the bottom of the hole. A small bead of fluid will drip out of the hole when the case is full.

  • Reinstall the fill plug and torque it to between 15 and 25 foot-pounds of torque. Hand-tightening the plug and turning it 1/2-half turn further with a socket wrench is equivalent to 20 foot-pounds of torque if you do not have a torque wrench available.

AC is leaking water onto the floor on the passenger side, some said the drain line could be plugged?

Yes, the weep drain. Inside the engine compartment, on the firewall, passenger side, half way between top and bottom of firewall. Small rubber tube comes out, then does a 90* turn towards the ground then just stops. You can remove the weep drain and clean it, or use wire to "poke" around and break up the debris. I suggest removing it.

Water is leaking above water pump against block but i can not see. i reveved up car now when i put water in just comes right out but i cant see behind the water pump in the upper area is ther a hose behind...

could be the weep hole located on back of water pump right on top if its leaking its probably pissing out if this is the case its time to replace the hoses are on both sides but sounds like if u cant see and its behind pump its the weep hole try using a small mechanics mirror to take a peak with engine off you should see a antifreeze water mark indicating the leak
