I have a 2000 Volvo S40 and the back right window rolled down fine, but now won't roll up. The switch in front and on the back door are not working. The motor doesn't seem to be making any noise when I push the switch. I cannot manually pull the window up. How do I fix this?

SOURCE: ELECTRIC WINDOW ISSUE

THe wiring between the door and flexes everytime you get in or out and sometimes wires break from this, usually inside the colored rubber coatings, you have to feel for broken wire inside

SOURCE: 97 Chevy Blazer Driver's side electric window

Is it making any noise at all when you push the button? If it is making noises, then you probably have a broken window regulator. If is is not doing ANYTHING, then you probably have a bad switch or a bad window motor.
You can find out which it is by popping the switch out of the door and checking for power and ground at the switch connector. (back-probe the connector with it still connected to the switch)
The circuits to the driver's door motor are Connector C2 - DARK BLUE Pin "A" and BROWN Pin "E" (C2 is the Long, 8-pin connector)
BOTH of these wires shouldbe GROUND when the switch is in the NEUTRAL position. Then with the ignition switch ON, the BROWN wire will switch from GROUND to POWER when the switch is pushed "DOWN". The DARK BLUE wire will do the same when the switch is pushed "UP".
If these are not doing as described, replace the switch. If they are switching properly, then you need to check for power and ground at the motor connector. - chances are it needs a motor, but you need to check the power and ground just to make sure you do not have a broken wire between the switch and the motor.

SOURCE: Why won't electric seats work?

Check the fuses, if those are good and that is a bench seat, test the control, if the control is good replace the electric motor.

If the switch is broken, you can put the switch down, short circuit closed first, if is bad, there is no way to the machine. Had better find a repair shop.car key programmer

Window won't rool up

If it is electric then you may have to replace the window motor, if it is a hand crank window then just take off the door panel and put the belt that goes from the crank to the chases of the window back on track, someone probably kept rolling it after it was already down

Diver window wont go up it's electric

I have a 1988 GMC pickup sometimes one window or the other won't go up,it's usually in the switch, probably due to wear,i usually work the switch up and down making sure i have fully depressed it both up and down after awhile it begins to work
the switches need to be replaced ,if this doesn't work, you might check the wiring for lose connections, and finally if all else fails check window motor, and regulator

Try replacing the fuse for your back windows or you might have to replace the electric motor that operates the back windows.
