Water Pump - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION CAUTION
When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are
attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink
any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground.
This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant
into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is
contaminated or several years old. 3.4L ENGINE (see Figures 1 and 2)
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
Remove the air intake duct.
Remove the top coil of the ignition coil pack.
Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt/screw.
Disconnect the heater hose from the water pump.
Loosen the water pump pulley bolts/screws.
Unfasten the power steering bracket bolts/screws.
Remove the serpentine drive belt.
Remove the water pump pulley.
Remove the power steering pump bracket and swing the bracket and
pump aside. Do NOT disconnect the power steering lines from the pump.
Unfasten the water pump and engine front cover bolts/screws, then

ok you will see a pulley with NO GROVES with FOUR 10mm bolts that's the water pump losen the 4 bolts then remove the drive belt remove the 4 bolts prev. loosed and remove that pulley then there are FIVE 8mm bolts holding the water pump to front cover remove the 5 water pump bolts then use a screwdriver and hammer and tap the pump to seperate the pump from the cover clean the old gasket off
install the new water pump and gasket
reassemble the vehicle
loosen the AIR BLEED SCREW ON THE BYPASS PIPE ABOVE THE WATER PUMP
refill the cooling system with coolant prev drained till a steady stream is coming out the AIR BLEED SCREW the close the bleed screw
if you need to add more coolant USE ONLY GM DEXCOL
then set your heater controls to VENT AND HOT
start the vehicle and let run till HOT AIR IS COMING OUT OF THE VENTS not WARM this will insure no air locks
hope this was help full
in the upper radiator hose to the engine side of an elbow with 2 screws in there is the thermostat and water pump need to remove the fan belt clucht with the fan off the bottom hose that goes from the radiator to the pump to remove the screws remove the pump the pump clean the surface and install the new pump
is it a 4 or a 6 cylinder engine, well you need to take off the fan clutch if it has one if not skip the step; its just 4 screws, then take off the acc belt, then take off the hose that goes from the radiator to the water pump; at the water pump, then remove the screws holding the water pump; make note what screw goes where some screws may be different sizes; in some 4 cyl 2.3L engines the timing belt cover has to be removed to remove the water pump, then remove the water pump, scrap off all gasket residue from the surface of the engine, take automotive silicone gasket maker and apply a small amount to the new water pump and level it out then put the included gasket over the silicone, then let it set for a couple of minutes, apply a bit more of silicone over the gasket and again let it set then replace the water pump, replace the screws and tighten all of them snug then go back and torque them between 20 and 25ft lb, replace the water hose, replace timming belt cover if removed, replace acc belt, and finally replace the fan clutch and your all set i hope you can get the job done
