It could be a few things related to your cooling system, hopefully not too serious, it could be a leaking radiator, bad radiator or heater hose, leaking water pump, or worse case scenario a blown head gasket. Your best bet is to take it to a Radiator Shop or a reputable mechanic and have your cooling system pressure tested to find out where the leak is coming from.

In the meanwhile I would not drive it too much because if it overheats too many times you can blow the head gasket on the cylinder head which will cost you at least $1500 to repair.

Dear,

firstly get the leakage stop as it is wasting the coolant and also look for either there is any blockage in the radiator hose, radiator fins, water pump etc..

this will surely solve your problem

thanx

Depends on where the leak is. Have it pressure to tested or go live chat so I can explain an ez way to do it.

I have a 2001 dakota that is overheating. put in new thermostat, didnt help. put in new water pump, still overheating. finally replaced the radiator. still is overheating. what else can I do to fix it

Sometimes when you open cooling system, air gets in, it can cause problems with temp gage.
How hot does it get in degrees F? Is the coolant boiling over? Are you losing coolant? Use a non-contact infra red temp gun to take engine temp, At least we will have a degrees F reading. Most temp gages say hi or lo, cold or hot. I don't know about yours?
Can you check for combustion gases in the coolant?

I had a bottom radiator hose blow off my 05 equinox and I flushed the block then the heater core a d changed the thermostat put all new coolant in and still keeps overheating

What about the radiator? Water pump? Can you check for coolant flow? There could be air in the cooling system? Do you trust your temp gage? Are there overheating issues besides the temp gage showing hot, like coolant overflowing, under the hood, somewhere?

Did you bled the air out of the cooling system? Do that and I bet it cures the complaint.

No heating air and the overheating gage is going higher

check thermostat for sticking.
sometimes the extra load that AC puts on your engine can cause it to over heat
check coolant level too, also check tension on fanbelt as well

My Actron 9575 says my '98 Grand Caravan is operating at 212 degrees. Is this a normal temp for a 3.3 (G) engine?

running temp is 195f so if it reads 212f I think thats OK. make sure the fan is operational above 220f or a/c is on. As long as its not overheating, pushing coolant out to the recovery tank, its OK. there was a computer update (reflash) for these vans. Campaign number 771

Driving on freeway, engine made rattling noise and wouldn't excellerate any longer. Smells like it got hot, but temp gauge didn't register that it was overheated. Coolent reservoir is dry. Don't know if...

If the coolant reservior is dry you need to open up the radiator cap when the car cools down and see if there is coolant in there. If it is empty, turn on car first and then fill up with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. Once it is full and you see the coolant circulating put the cap back on and add the mix to the reservior to the cold mark.

Did you check to see if your car has oil in it too?

Electric cooling fans will work.

The fans are actuated by coolant temp in the radiator. It is possible to have overheated coolant in the radiator, causing the steam, and your engine not overheating...the temp sensor for your engine is reflecting the engine temp, not the temp of the coolant in the radiator. You problem could be a bad temp sensor at the radiator...not allowing the fans to come on. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!
