Hi! Since my car is older, I wondered if there is anything I could do myself to keep it running better in between oil changes and tune-ups? What I had in mind is maybe some type of fluid I could buy at an auto store to put in to help clean the engine?

Re: "Anything Extra I Could Do Myself"?
Change the oil about every two years and only tune up about every 3 years or only if drivability symptoms occur There is no product that can extend the life of any machine keep the fuel filter changed EVERY 15,000 miles or once a year and thats it jsut enjoy your car .

Here is an answer from your self.
Self. " Yes, likely you will be needing new front window motors."
Unfortunately, with all things being made by computer today, the extra measure of quality has been removed to accommodate cost.
When you take apart the doors to install the motors, be sure the regulators are in good shape for the next 10 year expected life.
God bless your efforts.
Never take your car to a dealer even if your life depends on it , they charge you to much money for anything and when they mess something up the will charge you to fix their mistake should ha got ton one on eBay the reset themselves when plugged in but they will not tell you that as long as it is from the same car
On the throttle body you will find the IAC idle control valve, with two wires going to it, unplug and plug it back if no change then bang on the IAC if it goes to normal idle change one with used one and should be fine.
Idle aslo goes high IF a vacume hoses get cracked or come off.
HI. I HAVE 3 JEEPS MYSELF AND I WORK ON THEM. YOU WILL HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM A LITTLE BETTER I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN. SORRY, I KNOW I CAN HELP YOU, JUST EMAIL ME @ email@example.com anything for a fellow jeeper JIMBO
i wouldnt do i fuel filter unless it is for sure that it needs to be done.
try changing the plugs and spraying out the throttle body in front of the butterfly plate.
there is going to be a lot of black carbon builtup preventing the tbi from breathing at an idle position.the inside of the throttle body or tbi should be very nice and clean.
changing an fuel filter thats not needed can cause more problems for an extra cost.of the not needed parts.fuel filters only should be replaced at a loss of power or pickup or something like that.
anything rough is in plugs and intakes.
You just had to disconnect the negative off the old battery first. Then you disconnect the positive and it happens to touch metal it won't short anything out. Make sure you can not wiggle the cables, that the connectors at the battery can't spin or move at all. Tighten them more if necessary, try to start it. Let me know if you still have problems.
