Question about 1998 Volkswagen Jetta
The other day i was driving and i began to pull out of a parking lot and my shut off. I placed it in nuetral pushed it back in the parking lot and tried to start it again. It would turn over but there seemed to be no spark. I had a friend try to jump it and it still wouldnt start. I then got a newer battery and put that in, it still wouldn't start. I then had it towed home, any ideas what it might be?
10 to 1 your problem is your coil. Check on the plug , the one going on to the coil 3/6 pin if there is current coming from the ignition, unplug to check with a tester. if there is current on this and nothing going from the coil to the distributor it is your coil.

If the motor is turning over but not starting take the distributor cap off and remove the coil wire from the coil. Have a friend turn the key to start and make sure the the rotor is turning while the car is cranking if it is not turning your timing belt is broke. Please let me know if you have any questions.
