Chrysler 300 3.5 touring. EGR Valve needs to be replaced. How much should I pay to have this replaced by a reputable auto repair shop? I had an estimate of $440.00 and was flabergasted! What do you think?

If you can turn a wrench egr valves are easy just go to the library and look it up in the manual for your car and see if your skills are up to it.

Is it a hard job to replace the egr vavle on a 2005 chrysler 300 3.5 engine

the egr valve can be changed from below but the left bolt must be done blindly by feel, (use a small mirror,) undue the 2 bolts and pull it out from the intake, careful to make sure the gasket on the end of the tube comes with it;
the 2 bolts that hold the egr on also has a metal gasket;
the hardest thing is to disconnect the electrical plug from below that connects the egr valve, - do not do this if you have no mech experience;

I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 V6 Base Model...I'm getting the P0406 Error with the check engine light on. Can anyone give further guidance or how much it costs to relace EGR Valve?

Take your car to the nearest auto parts store and ask them to read and erase your trouble codes. As soon as you throw another code get them to read it again to verify which code is alerting you. Remember that just replacing a part is not always a solution. A egr is not too expensive and easily changed by someone handy. Buy a haynes repair manual for around $25. It's a good investment and will walk you through most repairs. It will also give you a basic understanding of what could be wrong with your car so that you will npt be taken advantage of by an unscrupulous mechanic .

2008 chrysler 300 under hood fire. looking for common problems. wire burnt on egr tube. is this normal?

I have been a Chrysler Technician for 13 years and I have never seen any under hood fire issues with the 300. My first question would be is have you had any other repairs done recently. The EGR valve is on the back of the right cylinder head, and the EGR tube runs across the back of the engine to the intake manifold. If repairs were made and the wiring was not routed correctly it may have caused your problem.

How do you replace the egr valve on a 300

Heat up the exhaust pipe to egr with torch and spray with knockitloose or wd40 when not hot. Then remove that pipe. Then remove vacuum hose and the 2 bolts that hold it on.

Engine Light On - 2006 Chrysler 300 3.5 engine

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300. The engine light comes on from time to time -- sometimes it will stay on for a week or so and then go off for at most a day or two. I had the code read yesterday and the feedback was "EGR pressure flow is low." My car has about 65K miles. Is this a typical problem with this car? I was told replacing the EGR valve would fix the problem. How easy is it to replace an EGR valve on this vehicle? Once replaced, do I need to reset the computer --- if so how do I do this? If it is easy to fix, could you please provide step by step directions and show me location of the part in question that needs replaced?

Where is the EGR valve located on a 2005 chrysler 300 touring. It comes with one gasket, do I need any others? Do I need to disconnect battery before replacing? Is there a gasket sealer I need to put on?

I saw on another forum...that it is on the rear of the motor on the passenger side. It also stated that it is easy to replace. I haven't looked yet.
