I'm kinda confused. At least on a 1990 it will be under the engine behind the cooler fan. It's kind of in an akward position. If you're replacing the whole module, you should lift the car and access it from underneath to make it easier. Also, keep in mind you wil need to remove your ignition coils since the are on the module. Take note of which cable goes where to avoid later issues

98 chevy cavalier turns over but won't start

i know industry jargon can be confusing, but lets try this. if it turns over but won't start, it could be your ''ignition module'' that sits on top of the vave cover on the motor or it might be the fuel pump or filter. make sure when you crank the engine that the key is all the way turned or it may not always make a proper contact to activate the ignition module. iv'e seen this before & had to change the ignition switch & all worked ok after that. i would need to know engine lt size to give you more details on the matter. please get back to me.

Need help finding the ignition module on a 1990 Dodge Ramcharger with a V8.

The ignition module is integral in the smec. (single module elctronid controller) This is found on the left(driver;s) inner fender. These are pretty bulletproof units. Just curious to know what your complaint is.

2003 Cavalier's are known for bad wiring harnesses. Get a good technician to find and replace the bad harness and your problems will go away. Sometimes, it may be more than one harness.

No spark on 1987 chevy cavalier

Crank position sensor would be my guess.
Its located the center, rear engine area, mounted in the block below the ignition coil pack and DIS module. My guess is that's your culprit.

Sounds like either the ignition module and or a coil pack is the culprit. I dont remember what year they changed it but if your is the one where the coil packs/module are located on the back of the motor they are a little tricky to get to. You need to remove dog bone mount and replace with a tool that will pull the motor forward so you can gain easier access...good luck. Hopefully yours are right on the top where they should have been since day one... :-)
