SOURCE: will not start
does it have gas?
is the battery still good? do the lights come on?
turn it to on, do not start, you should hear the fuel pump kick on, its a whirring sound coming from your trunk, have you changed the fuel filter? its a very simple job, i would say get a haynes manual first.
then check the plugs and wires.

SOURCE: H2 Hummer
Today 11-12-08 my 2003 H2 Hummer would not start. Checked battery it ischarged. Cables tight. Tried to start with portable booster pak. No go. Tridto jump start with my wife's Suburban. Still no go.
When I turn the switch I hear a single click and that is it. No engine turning over. While trying to start with key the headlights go out. Out of ideas, Will take to Chevy garage in am. Will post solution.

It is possible for the vehicle to run perfectly fine before turning the engine off. I have seen it happen and it took me quite a while to figure it out. I would never have thought it was the timing chain until I tried to move the distributor and it kind of started. Thats when I figured out that it was the timing chain. If your vehicle has a distributor, mark the position that its in now and then loosen the bolt holding it down and turn the distributor either way and see if it will start or want to start better. Or you can set your TDC on cylinder #1 and check where the position of the rotor is under the cap. theses procedures are a little easier than taking the timing cover off and checking it that way.

On a 2.0 unhook the wires from the back of the starter then there are 2 bolts that go through the nose cone of the starter into the block, you remove those 2 bolts and the starter will fall out.
