Question about 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Need to check the condition of the coolant, if it's original it has a 5 year life, just flush and fill with same kind, I think they were using the red colour stuff by then, do not switch types, use what they started with, some don't mix well and will give you fits.
another check is the condition of your fan, the one on the water pump should move freely when the enging is cold, if it is a max cooling system you need to check a few sites to get info as there are parts and hydraulic connections involved , after driving and with the engine TURNED OFF, check it again, should be way harder to turn, if not it should be replaced, also check the fins of the radiator to see if you have some dirt or debris in there, you can pressure wash it out but be careful not to get too close to it while doing that as the water pressure can bend the fins.
Last, there may be an electric fan in front of the fan mounted on the water pump, it kicks on when the engine needs a little extra cooling, my 93 doesn't have this but to check it just turn on your ac, I believe it turns on whenever the ac is on..be careful with these fans and work safe as it is really easy to get hurt if you get in a hurry.
