Question about 2003 Ford Focus

2 Answers

I have a 2003 Ford Focus ZTW and it is leaking coolant. It is leaking from what looks like a small plug right under the two main hoses. But it isn't leaking from the hoses. We were thinking it was the heating core, but are not sure if that is even a plug, thought we know that it where the leak is from.

I believe they are the heater core hoses. We thought that the drain could there for when the heater core goes out and instead of leaking into your car, it redirects the leak out of what looks to be that plug, but we aren't sure.

It is pure water. I had a Ford guy look at it really quick and that is what he told me; that is was completely normal. On further checking, we found out that my resevoir has a crack along the back side. Much easier fix, but I really appreciate your help. Thanks six-of-ten

The drain is there for the condensation from the air conditioner evarorator. And, yes, it probably is the heater core. It is Very difficult to remove. You have to remove the Whole dash - and more.... The dealer sells the whole heater assembly for $525. Good Luck.

I made an assumption on my last post. I assumed that you know that anifreeze is green in color. If the fluid coming out of that hole is not greenish, then it is just pure water from the condensate of the AC. It is completely normal.

Ford focus, 2000 zx3 code p0455

your engine code means "big leak" in the evap control system, this system has alot of pieces, but you are looking for a vacuum leak most probably, look at your vacuum hoses, and refer to the vacuum diagram stuck under your hood for routing, see if you have a bad hose, or disconnected hose some where. these are small vacuum hoses that attach to the purge valve, air filter housing, and charcoal cannister. let me know what you find.

Where is the radiator cap on 2003 Ford Focus ZTW

I do not believe that there is a radiator cap on the Focus. I believe that the coolant is filled from the what most would consider the overflow tank. It is an overflow tank of sorts but serves also to fill the radiator.
